Sorry, I know there's umpteen threads on insurance, so I was hoping someone could point me in the direction of one of them.
I have insurance through performance direct already so tried them as I'd get a multi car discount, they said they were unable to get a quote as it's parked outside, the same as my Datsun. The car in question is a 1990 Toyota Cressida GL, lhd, imported in 1994 from the West Indies. Is it really uninsurable?

Sounds odd,could it be something to do with left hookers going missing for dubious export ?

Is that a thing then? I've had imported left hookers in the past with no problems. It just makes no sense.

Not sure to be honest,just a guess that might explain why they wouldn't insure an LHD car on the drive.Doesn't seem to be anything else out of the ordinary.
I knew someone who was gathering up LHD J cars,Mercs and trucks for export to Iraq a few years ago,he was legit but maybe there is a dodgy element doing a similar thing.

Cant see why it would be big a problem - did you ask why they couldnt cover it? It could just be something simple such as needs security if not garaged etc. Presumably its already UK registered seeing as it was imported so long ago?

They said it's because it's parked on the street in a cul-de-sac...next to the Datsun. I guess I could up the security but I was trying not to spend much on t as I just wanted to drive it for a short while then put it up for sale. And yes, it was registered in '94.
