Started removing the old alarms and realised the dash had to come out to do it properly , not a hard job , few screws and it's out , the dash has cracks along the top edge so it'll be going for repair at some point now it's off And this is just half of what came out today , also removed the abs wiring , master cylinder and servo , I'll be using a twin cam sierra servo and m/c , has to come from a sierra with discs all round but can't find a second hand one so will try my local motor factors

Ahh yes, I can remember removing an aftermarket alarm system from my missus old Fiesta as it was having intermittent starting issues, it was great fun trying to figure out what had been spliced and cut into and what should be there and what shouldn't (and this didn't actually cure the starting issue!).

Starting to get a hang of this wiring game , all aftermarket alarms and immobilisers removed , what seemed like miles of wiring all removed , all looks so much neater , now to repair the cracks in my dash and refit it This is a pic before the wiring was removed Nice example of the workmanship I'm dealing with here !!!

Found several joins in the loom that were just wrapped round bare wire and loosely wrapped in black tape and show signs of shorting against the body , the joys !!

Inlet been stripped then vapor blasted and assembled with new cometic gaskets , injectors are getting sent to auto dynamix to get cleaned and flow tested when I'm back onshore , also managed to track down a bronze windscreen with a blue top tint strip as per factory , wasn't too badly priced either

I've been slowly working on the sierra lately , can't find the time this now with work and family , almost ready for an mot , sorely needs painted but a friend is going to machine polish it and basically tart it up so it doesn't look too bad , just want to drive it !! Body kit back on

Something I've mentioned before but is now done is the removal of the abs system , reason being is twice I've had the abs kick in doing some questionable speeds with only light pressure on the pedal and it was very scary , replaced a load of bits , checked all wiring and couldn't find any faults and it done it again so don't want to take the chance , off it went , 90% of the cars I've owned don't have abs so I'll manage just fine without ! It's a servo and master cylinder off a twin cam sierra with discs all round , this is one recommended for this job And my brothers old Porsche he's imported from America , in need of a full restoration but not by me , will be going off to a specialist shop down south

Well after sorting out a few earths that weren't earthing because of paint (my fault!) it finally runs on all 4 , majorly overfueling so maybe faulty map sensor or water temp sensor , water sensor is new so maybe map sensor , car shuddered to a stop and wouldn't restart , after half an hour I realized I'd ran out of fuel .... offshore tomorrow so all stop for another 3 weeks , sometimes I really hate my job

Check your air inlet temp sender as well, if its broken then the ecu maybe compensating with more fuel. I had this issue on my car and my SECS monitor told me the sensor was faulty.

All the other sensors are new on the car , I bought a full set from Motorsport developments only sensor that's not new is the map sensor , but I'll 100% check the inlet sensor as it wouldn't be the first time I've fitted a duff sensor

Love it. Had a model of one of these when I was a little kid in around 1990 - I dare say that's what got me into motors

New engine loom being made by autodynamix , sick fed up with the way the car runs , only ever heard good things about this company and how the cars perform with a new loom , should be here soon can’t wait to fit it ! Is it sad that I’m super excited to get a bunch of wires ?? !!

I like both cars and would happily drive or own either/both. Hope your Dad improves. My own had the same dose , beat it and is 78 now!
