What insurance company are you with for your retro cars?
I'm 23, had my license for 10 months and I'm looking to get my other Volvo 360 on the road. Insurance is a bit of a curse word however.

Best is a very subjective term when it comes to insurance. I'm 20-odd years older than you and my car isn't retro (well it is in terms of it has styling reminiscent of the original S-type but you know what I mean) so what's good for me won't be good for you. It's also subjective in that when you're young, the best company is the one that will insure you when nobody else will. As you get older, other factors come into play like excesses, courtesy cars, European cover, how well they deal with claims yada yada and you can be more picky. All that you no doubt already know but once you get some quotes you can get an idea of how good the companies who quote are in terms of customer satsifaction by looking here: www.defaqto.com/advisers/ratings/service-ratings/

On a modified policy ive just got it cheaper than the quotes I was getting as a standard car with Adrian Flux. That being said, this year they were a last resort as their customer service last year left a lot to be desired.

Best as in cheapest or the one who the one who will pay out without dragging out a claim or making excuses as to why they limit the claim, some are happy to have the cheap budget internet only based then moan when they need to alter the cover but won't get a reply to their email until Monday next week or you cold pay a few quid more and speak to an human who understands you.
It differs for each person, what suits one my not suit you.

That being said, this year they were a last resort as their customer service last year left a lot to be desired. I withdraw the above statement, stay clear of flux. Fail to do these simplest things then try to up my premium to correct their mistake. So I'm still looking now as well.

I'm with Footman James for the Jag, had the 205 with them as well last year, but it's off the road at the moment. Always satisfied with the customer service, straightfoward approach and the prices. Should point out these are classic policies by the way!

I'd second the avoid flux notion, might end up the cheapest but the hassle if stuff goes pete tong is not worth it.
Sky Insurance have been decent, though still had one or two issues they were a bit easier to deal with.
Chris knott have been brilliant for me over the past two years on both cars so I'll likely stay with them if they give a decent price shortly.
Firebond and footman james have been ok, though I struggles to get them to quote for a few various reasons a while back so havent gone back, seemed they just didnt cater for old obscure cars like a 309 goodwood or a citroen zx 16v at the time, too old for normal policies but not recognised as classics.

I'm with Diamond on an agreed value classic policy, they are part of Aviva. Bit of a hesitant start as they gave me the wrong email address to send the photos twice but i got there in the end. I did speak to a proper bloke in the agreed value department eventually who was clearly interested and fairly knowledgable about classics and retros. We did the agreed value over the phone with him looking at photos as we spoke. That made me feel a lot better about the company.
You might have a problem getting classic cover with you being under 25 but i think Footman James will consider younger drivers.

I was with flux for the past few years on my 924 and defender but got treated pretty badly on renewal this year so ended up back with admiral who were £60 cheaper. They're all pretty curse word when it comes down to it so best to try to find the best cover and price rather than company.
