EQUIPMENT
Wide black bodyside mouldings, long range driving lights, tailgate spoiler, sports suspension, front anti-roll bar, dual tone horn, halogen headlights, tinted glass, laminated windscreen, two spoke soft feel steering wheel, aircraft-style pockets, micro-switches, anti-burst locks, remote control door mirrors, tinted glass, tailgate wash/wipe, digital clock, 2005 electronic RDS Ford stereo, four speakers, courtesy light, load compartment light. Factory options; Option Pack consisting of central door locking, electric windows, remote tailgate release, centre console. Dealer options; floor mats.
EXTERIOR
Finished in sporting Ford Diamond White, (Code B9), this collectors example still retains an amazing deep gloss shine born from the incredibly low mileage and cossetted storage. The factory panels are pin straight with uniform gaps and only a light graze to the front bumper and a small compression to the valence are worthy of a mention. Original supplying dealer number plates are fitted front and rear and even the dealer tailgate badge remains affixed! All glass is number plate etched and the correct Valeo halogen headlamps and Carello long range driving lamps are fitted. Exhibitionists will enjoy the clean factory underside with torque markings still visible on the bolts and correct bodyside mouldings with the white insert. A rare car and almost unrepeatable.
INTERIOR
Perfect in every respect. The interior of this incredible example epitomizes the term factory fresh and will transport any occupant back to a 1980’s Ford showroom! The sports seats finished in Thirsk trim retain all fullness with no wear or damage to the fabric. The instrument binnacle, matching door cards and headlining are factory flawless. The carpeting has been protected by four genuine Ford rubber mats. All the instruments, micro-switches and driver controls function correctly and the two-spoke soft-feel sports steering wheel and gear knob display all the factory veins. The boot area has no lose luggage damage with an unmarked grey carpet, and factory stickers remain in place to the boot floor and side mouldings. Certain to delight the most discerning, fastidious and excellence seeking collector.
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1.6 CVH engine with a twin venturi carburettor and electronic breakerless ignition produces 90bhp at 6000rpm and 133Nm of torque at 4000rpm. Performance credentials of 9.3 seconds to 60mph and a top speed of 108mph are just 0.3 seconds and 11mph slower than the performance topping XR2i model at the time! The engine bay is guaranteed to amaze onlookers with originality and cleanliness with all factory stickers, plates and labels intact. The 5-speed transmission works seamlessly with a light and crisp clutch action, just as you would expect from such a low mileage example. Brilliant fun.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
5X13 steel wheels with full wheel covers in Tricoat White are undamaged and shod in matching 165/65 R13 tyres. The servo-assisted diagonally split brakes with ventilated 9.5” discs up front and 8”drums at the rear pull the car up quickly and safely.
HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 1st August 1989 by Ford Main Dealers, W.Harold Perry Ltd of North Finchley, this example has had just two owners from new. Mrs Pauline Snow owned the vehicle until April 2005 having covered just 8,288 miles due to being used for local trips and her increasing old age. A Ford enthusiast, Mr Viggars, has owned the car ever since continually keeping it stored correctly with MOT outings only. The dealer point of sale material is wonderful and extends to the Go Perrys Pre-Delivery Inspection Report and even a Perrys pen! A collection of MOT certificates and vehicle handbooks are contained within the blue A5 folder. A real piece of sporting Ford history.
MOT September 2017, HPI Clear.
