'Evening all, I'm looking for ideas on how to convert a Mk1 Mondeo Estate to rear wheel drive.
The car has been in my family practically since new, and I have fond memories of many long road trips in it when I was a kid. She's now reached the point where there may be something seriously wrong with the engine, and rather than scrap her I'm eyeing up the idea of her being my next project, as the bodywork and everything else is tatty but solid.
I know they did a four wheel drive version, but I'm not going to lie that doesn't really appeal to me as much as making her a RWD sleeper-esque car, plus parts are a pain to get. Has anybody got any knowledge of the conversion being done before, or any ideas on how to do it? Google seems to yield very little.
My current thinking is along the lines of an S-type donor vehicle and transplanting the entire drive train; I'm quite familiar with the 3.0 V6 at this point. Any power plant would be considered though, providing it isn't terrible on fuel (<20MPG), is interesting and would fit without too much bulkhead massaging.
Any ideas are welcome, I'm just spitballing at this point
Edit: Just moved this from Tech questions as it fits in better here.
