Rain. Water, anything damp or has been near water in past five years, they are very lively at the back. If your looking at a t-bar (removable glass roof.) make sure it doesn't leak, I found out mine leaked in a car wash.... That was interesting. They Rot underneath and hide it well with undertrays so get underneath and have a good look. Radiator lines run the full length of the car and are hard steel prone to Rot and cracking, easy enough to replace with rubber pipes. But they do go over the fuel tank, ask me how I know. Here are some pictures of mine. Happy buying.

Ok plenty to look out for then.. Ive looked at it once and to be fair its pretty much immaculate underneath .Its been garaged since it was imported to uk so paintwork is great too. Its been stood 12months and it started first turn of the key so i might just take a gamble on it. I'm only paying £800 for it does that sound ok. Nice looking mr2 by the way

Rev 3 GTS onwards are much better but for that kind of price i would have another 1 for sure, serious bargain! for a Turbo spec.
The early rev1,2 ran a ct26 turbo quick spool up,94 onwards ran a ct20 turbo which wer safer for high boost up to 19psi and revamped.

I really like the MR2. I love late 80s / early 90s Toyotas with pop up lights. I've had a couple of supras and a couple of celicas but not had a MR2 yet. It could well be my next car, that or a Benz 190. Totally different I know, but that's the 2 cars top of my list right now.

Yeah had a couple of early J cars myself...mx5 ...200sx.... back in the day. And yeah a 190 and mr2 are certainly different but both good in there own ways
