So, after quite possibly the most fun year it's possible to have it's time to sell our little Mx5 racecar #177. It's took us around some of the best circuits in the country and Europe, and has somehow made us accidentally almost competitive in the process!
The car was originally built by MX5 specialists and championship winners Blendini. This year it was supported by AK Automotive - The MX5 Specialists and Border MX5s. It has had numerous top 10 overall finishes across both BRSCC and 5Club championships including an overall 3rd place at Croft and a 5th place at Spa Francorchamps, despite the drivers being in ther first season of racing. The car actually qualified in A races (the fastest qualifying group) at every round while wearing a novice cross.
This car was prepared to race in Europe and as such meets both MSA and FIA regulations. This means it could be used in both the UK and Europe without additional work being required.
The car has the following specification:
- AK Automotive head skim with 3 angle valve seats. Matched up to a good bottom end. Compressions are 210 across all cylinders
- AK Automotive custom exhaust, as used by most top cars - Exhaust manifold has been tuned within regulations
- GAZ Gold Pros - fully rebuilt around 3 months ago by GAZ
- Two sets of GAZ springs included: 500/300 and 500/250
- Safety Devices roll cage with FIA approved roll cage padding
- Team Dynamics Pro Race 2 15x7J ET25 wheels with Hankook Ventus tyres. The tyres are unshaved so ideal for wet races, or can be shaved for dry races.
- Powerflex polybushes all over
- OMP ARS FIA approved fibreglass race seat. Very light, HANS compatible and in date until 2018
- TRS FIA approved 5 point harnesses in date until 2019
- Plumbed in fire extinguisher and engine cut off cables. The extinguisher has recently been serviced and has FIA approved brackets
- The car itself is very light, we were running 20kg of lead with a 75kg driver to meet the 960kg minimum weight limit
This car is good to go and could be raced competitively in 2017. It is currently undergoing an exterior restoration at BorderMx5s, including new front wings and rear quarters. We will be respraying it white, unless you get in fast when you can have the colour of your choice!
