Wonder if anyone has used plastic pipe in the high pressure part of a fuel injection system? I'm struggling to understand how to connect it to the pump and fuel rail, or which type of plastic pipe to use!
The BMW engine in my Triumph had a type of speed fit connector, but I can't find those for sale. The "R9" pipe on the car hasn't lasted well, it's delaminating and will fail an MOT.
Any suggestions welcome, the injection pump is at the rear of the car, so I need high pressure pipe to the injection rail at the front.
Thanks
Andy

Hi Andy, You can use this stuff. I did on my PI. www.ssldieselparts.co.uk/fuel-pipe-plastic-nylon-tubing-p-330.htmlYou put brass inserts in the ends to stop it crushing and I used brass fittings and proper hose tails to join to flexi-hose on the HP lines as I was worried about it blowing off without any form of bead on it. The same site can supply all the bits you'll need. Nick

Thanks Nick and Steve.
Nick, did you use the plastic all the way from the PI pump?

Yes. In fact the original PI system (which runs at 105 psi rather a mere 45psi) also uses nylon pipe, which is what gave me the idea in the first place. Just keep it away from hot bits and make sure it is supported often.

I found some nylon 8mm fuel pipe on eBay after trying 3 other types that failed, for the return I used rubber hose, I also slid some rubber hose over the plastic to stop it chafing on any edges.
