Mike hasn't long left, the slave battery I brought home was beyond shagged and one of the brakelights doesn't work. Other than that I think I'm pretty happy, but it's dark and I haven't had a proper look at it yet... here are a couple of teasers; Not shown in this pic, smoke appearing from the slave battery which was swiftly dispatched hedgewards. I love the front end of this. To do list; - Welding to floor, front inner wings & rear arches
- Tyres
- Lights
- Number plates
- Service mechanicals
- Wash
Paint

Patinated; Misfirey, missing airbox lid but running order; High tech; Details; Love that front end, hoping to get some crystal 7" H4s to replace the broken sealed beams. Paint is, erm well it needs a buff; some bits of missing trim need finding, floors need de-soggying... Lovely; Needs/ Wants list so far; Airbox lid, LHF indicator/sidelight, Number plate/ boot handle trim, HT leads, dizzy cap & rotor arm oh and both rear flank badges.

Glad to see someone putting this to good use. Had I any space I would have gone for it. This was my sedan I fixed up a few years ago. Looking forward to the thread.

Are there many 1200s left about in the UK? Id never seen any when I lived there. I prefer the shape of them compared to the 120y that's collecting moss in our yard.

In this for updates. Shiny wheels being the first purchase for a car that needs maintenance should mean it will be a good project. Will be interesting if you're keeping the patina or full refurb - I think it will work well either way.

Obviously gonna keep an eye on this as I'm in the "I've got a Datsun estate" club. Patinated is an understatement! Looks great in my humble opinion.

In the background, parts are arriving and although there is no real progress to speak of yet, I did do this at the weekend;

Been having a bit of a prod underneath RatSun today, as I have bought quite a few parts now, I figured I ought to check there is a car worth attaching them to under all the mess. The cross member under the front valance needs attention; Where the front of the floor meets the bulkhead has a seam, which is in a similar condtion both sides. This might be a tricky bit to repair as it takes in several odd shapes. Fibregash repairs on some of the panels, the front wings being worst, along with this in the door; Nothing else for it but to have a dig at that wing top to see if there is any metal left there... Nope. Also noticed that on the driver's door there are holes where a mirror may once have been mounted, is this a standardised spacing or am I going to have to autojumble it with a tape measure in hand?

I might have a driver's mirror with that fitment. I'll check tonight and get back to you.

Thank you kindly, Sam.
I have had word that my contact in Scotland has been on a parts collecting mission today, so hopefully there will be some more parts arriving soon!

My dad had a 72 four door GX when we were kids.
I love these.
And never seen a wagon.
You may be able to source parts in SA or many other right hand drive countries.
Johnnybravo may also know more than me.

Will definitely be able to source front wings, and doors in SA as they would be the same as on the Datsun / Nissan 1300 bakkies (pickups made in South Africa till recently).
