Price - 3k ovno
Up for sale is this lovely, honest if a little rough round the edges Lancer Evo 1, the original, lightest, most uncomplicated of the legendary Evo family.
Bought earlier this year as a track day car, it was thrown around Cadwell park once, after that I decided it was too nice and rare to risk destroying and so it was retired, its racing career never realised.
Running gear -
Has a fairly decent spec, at some point in the past its had an Evo 3 engine transplanted in, I'm guessing in 2013 because in the folder of receipts theres one for an HKS timing belt.
An Owen Developments TD05 turbo fitted also in 2013, a fancy looking but unbranded exhaust manifold, HKS air filter, a big aluminium radiator which is branded but I don't recognise it. No noises, no smoke, no rattles, no leaks.
The gearbox has a crunch going into 5th at high revs which is why this is listed as a project, there is a synchro supplied but I haven't had the chance to fix it. When cruising around and driving 'normally' it doesnt make a difference. Other than that the brakes, tyres, diffs, transfer box all work without noise or issue. It starts first time, every time without fail even when left for a while.
Body -
Another reason why its listed as a project is the state of the paint. There is no rust anywhere on the chassis, the only spot is under one of the spoiler legs on the boot. But the paint on the bonnet is beyond the recovery powers of a machine polisher I feel. Rest of the body has more than its fair share of scratches and scrapes.
Has coilovers on the rear, what looks like stock units on the front, carbon fibre roof.
Interior -
Complete, period Recaros in pretty good shape for 23 years, Razo carbon gear knob, electric windows work, folding mirrors don't and the air con was removed a long time ago.
Dynamics -
Drives brilliantly, handles like its on rails and it pulls strong even on wastegate boost pressure.
Good things - Rarity, performance, reliability, long MOT
Bad things - 5th gear synchro, overall shabby appearance
So thats it, any inspection welcome, and test drive just don't expect a show ready pristine motor. Car is located in Lincoln and cash on collection please.
