I'd say i was a new member, but i'm not, just haven't really posted on here before
I picked this up a few days ago, after being listed locally for sale at a really good price.
In pictures it looked good, and to my surprise when i went to view it, it was a lot better than i thought it would be.
Originally owned by a farmer before the previous guy bought it, it was just used for light work around the farm, and luckily the old boy had fitted a bedliner in, so the bed is as clean as you're gonna get. No dents!
The only bad bit is where some water must have got trapped and sat and rotted through slightly, but on a truck that's 22 years old, i'm not fussed.
Move into the cab and it gets better, dash is like new, just one small scratch under the passenger side dash vent. Factory sunroof which doesn't leak, headliner needs a light scrub but is like new with no rips, and look at the floor! No rust at all!
The seats are from an MX5, as far as i know the original bench seat was knackered, and i'm guessing the guy before me ripped the carpet out, which i would have done anyway as the plastic flooring never looks nice unless it's in mint condition. I will be putting new light grey carpet in once ive got some plywood panels in to create a smooth floor.
Ideally id like to put another bench seat in, but i think the chances of finding a mint seat will be very slim!
So when i saw this for sale, it was completely accidental. I wasn't searching for one, i had just got back into looking for 80's/90's minitruck inspiration for a Square Body Chevrolet pickup i have.
But i had always liked retro pickups and with it being in such good condition and at a good price, i sold the van i had to a mate and bought this instead. With the Chevrolet averaging about 12 miles to the gallon, i needed a cheap usable vehicle to run about in!

I left a deposit and set off home, that night i trawled ebay for wheels and found some 8j 15" dished steels. £199 for 4, brand new, delivered. Done! Next thing was tires, set of 4 brand new , £92 delivered.
The truck was coming with 3" lowering blocks and U bolts for the rear, and with the front just being on torsion bars, it was a quick 2 hour make-over when i got the truck back to a friends garage.
Blocks went in pretty smoothly, the bolts on the torsion bars were turned 14 turns each side to drop the front. Wasn't overly happy with the drop, but then realized the bump stops were in the way. Took those off and hey presto, dropped another inch!
The wheels fit perfect, stick out an inch maybe but i like that and doesn't look so obvious that the police pull me.
Got it home, gave the engine bay a quick wipe over, and polished the body. Managed to pick up a job lot of retro curse word off a guy i've seen at Newark autojumble in the past.
Haven't found any more rust, so very happy with it all. The bed will get repaired and given a sand down, then some white bedliner paint put in, and possibly some wood strips just to keep anything i put in the back from scratching the paint up.
With the fluorescent parts on it certainly gets reactions, some positive, some curious as to why i'd do it. My dad says i'll look like a gay-nightclub owner driving it...
Plans for a retro sunstrip and some stripes are in the pipeline, hopefully when i see a friend tomorrow.
I called down at the car spares shop and asked if he had any pinstripe tape, the answer was 'no unless you want fluorescent pink!'
I walked out with an 8 metre roll :-)
