Hi All,
I have a 1998 740i which has been with me for about 15 years, it's a fully loaded model with no faults to mention (apart from a couple of tiny rust spots) and served me well for over 200k miles.
It's been sat next to the house for the past 3 years as just can't bring myself to sell it for peanuts, really fancied keeping it on the road with a few minor power tweaks added (like twin rear mounted turbos) since although not slow it's not really fast either especially in the 0-60 stakes.
Was hoping to get it on a classic or Motorsport insurance policy for a sensible cost and limited mileage but so far not found anyone who would insure it as either type and insuring as a normal car is stupid money for the miles it would do
Do you think it will get a classic status anytime soonish, happy for it to sit for another year or 2 but if we think it will be 5+ years then it's better off being broken for parts which I really don't want to do.
I gave it a quick wash a couple of months ago after 3 years and it came up so nice and shiny.
Cheers,
Mike
