Gorgeous 1993 Mazda MX5 V-Spec SOLD.
Here is a link to a full album with loads of photos on my Flickr account.
This is a lovely MK1 na MX5 Eunos Roadster V-Special in the rather lovely Neo Green (British Racing Green, BRG) with contrasting tan leather.
It is a very rare special limited edition with the 1840cc engine with a rather unusual find being an automatic gear box.
Being a V-Spec it comes with all the extras…
- Lightweight original 14 inch 7 spoke alloy wheels, powder coated in silver.
- Full tan/beige leather interior with limited edition floor mats.
- Bilstein suspension.
- Nardi Torino Wooden steering wheel and handbrake handle.
- Power steering,
- Air conditioning,
- Electric windows and mirrors,
- Headrest speakers and electric aerial,
- Stainless steel ‘Roadster’ kick plate sill covers,
- Stainless steel doorcard speaker covers,
- Genuine Mazda rear spoiler and so on.
This example is largely original with a couple of extras added being…
- Decent Sony XPLOD CD stereo with aux input for your phone/iPod etc,
- Chrome roll hoops/style bar, these cost over £100 new,
- Stainless steel radiator grill and round front fog lights,
- An unusual cup holder centre console that I’ve never seen in one of these before.
The car has 89,200 miles on the clock, it’s reading 143,500km presently.
MOT is until 31st May so 9 months or so.
In the last couple of years the car has had a brand new roof and the frame was refurbished at the same time too so no worries there.
Car has its original key and a spare.
The car is practically a classic now being 23 years old and it’s very cheap to run. I’m 24 and an up to date insurance quote for me is way under £250 fully comp with Aviva. Please do check for yourself though!
Original mk1s are now getting very rare and hard to find and this one could be made into a great example with little effort.
The Bodywork.
Overall, stunning. Honestly, the paintwork is very deep and glossy, it genuinely looks better in person than in the photos! Polishes up a treat!
It’s a lovely colour, looks a bit different in changing lights, really suit’s the car.
It’s not perfect (it is nearly 23 years old don’t forget) with the odd mark here and there such as chips and small parking dings etc but it certainly is hugely presentable turning heads as it goes.
The wheels have been refurbished in the past in the silver you see, originally these would have been chrome, a nightmare to look after in Britain with our salted roads so these being powder coated will at least look good for longer.
As mentioned above the car has had a brand new roof a couple of years ago as well as the frame being refurbished, it all moves freely, good clips etc and is completely water tight. It is sort of a dark green colour and is white inside. Good clear screen with a good zip.
The hood drain holes are clear and free of debris so no worries there.
The car is relatively corrosion free and appears to have been rust proofed underneath. It does have a bit of rust in the typical point on these cars though at the end of the sills and these will need attention at some point.
The arches and everywhere else are completely solid and blister free.
The Interior.
The car has aged well for one of these owing to its low mileage. The seats are good with little wear, the driver’s seat does have some wear to it as expected but overall it’s nice inside, very comfortable.
The carpets are bone dry with little wear and have the original V-Special floor mats.
Absolutely everything works as it should other than the air conditioning which I’m not sure is.
The Drive.
The car is very precise to drive, starts perfectly with a very strong engine and gear box.
There are no odd noises from the drive train, it just gets on with the job.
The auto is a delight to use and works fine, no clunks or jerkiness, doesn’t slip or struggle to kick down etc, it’s actually nice to drive, very smooth and doesn’t ‘spoil’ the driving experience like some people might tell you.
The steering and brakes etc are all very responsive and this car makes you fall in love with driving again.
The is a tiny knock coming from the front passenger’s suspension at low speeds, presumably a single bush or ball joint, other than that it is perfect.
The History and Paperwork.
The car was originally manufactured in 1993 and was imported into the UK from Japan and registered here in November 2001. When it was imported it had 60,000km on the clock so only done 83,000km in the UK which is about 50,000 miles.
There are just 4 previous owners since then.
There is little in the way of receipts or service history sadly.
I have all MOT certificates since it has been in the uk and a few tax discs.
Full V5 logbook here.
Looking at the MOT history the car has only done 8000km (5000miles) in the last 8 years!
