The Main PointsMot Until August 2017 (Only 2 Minor Advisories) One Of Only 400 Produced In 1985 (In Total Only 3000 Produced In '84/'85 For The German Market). This one was imported into the Uk in 1988 Left Hand Drive 6 Previous Owners; All Names Known And History Researched Via The DVLA Stack Of Receipts, Old MOTs & Tax Discs Etc. Original 1200cc Engine With Approx. 114k Miles On It (No Guarantees But All Paperwork Appears To Back This Up) Lowered & Adjustable Front Suspension (Dropped Spindles and Swayaways) Saved By Me From A Damp Yard In Yorkshire In 2010 And Subject Of A 2 Year Recommissioning With Many, Many New Parts. See The Build Thread Here: www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=645853BodyLet's get this straight from the start, this is an honest bug in great shape where it matters. To my knowledge there are no nasty surprises waiting for you (and I've spent alot of time under/inside/outside of this car) and although this is now a much used cliché, the MOT tester has mentioned his surprise at the lack of rot on this car at all of the MOT tests under my ownership. You'd have to go a long way to find a bug with door jambs, heater channels, floors, rear cross members etc etc. in this condition. Don't take my word for it though, a picture speaks a thousand words: Get the idea? That's not to say the body is faultless, it's not. I put some filler in the original rear valence rather than replace and, whilst not a structural problem, a perfectionist may want to replace. Also, along with some localised welding repairs carried out under my ownership to a good standard there are some older welding plates on the inner wings which are a little agricultural (you can see them in the pics) but whilst they're not pretty they are very solid and that's the main thing, I'm sure you'll agree. The paint work is a mix of the original paint, semi-pro repaint (on the 4 new genuine Vw wings) and rattle can and whilst it does present reasonably well I would only rate it as 6 out of 10. With some effort it could be alot better. There are also a couple of small dents, minor bubbling and a few scuffs & scratches (Happy to photograph any/all pf these areas if you so wish). I'm trying to be as honest as possible understanding the travelling time that is often required to view these cars. As already mentioned, and I must stress, overall this car is way above average and I hope you can see that from the pictures. Heater channels / floors / rear cross members / bulkhead / rear quarters / doors / door fit / door jambs and the way the doors close are all to die for and you'd have to go a long way to find a bug at this price with these areas in such good shape. To be continued....

MechanicalsThis car is running the original 1200cc engine & I've covered over 2000 miles in this car since the recommissioning including two 350 mile return trips to Santa Pod and all of these miles have been trouble free. This comes as no surprise (to me) because I have replaced or refurbished a myriad of parts during the recommission. This includes (deep breath); spark plugs, points, condenser, plug leads, distributor cap, coil, rocker covers & gaskets, fan belt, fuel pump, fuel filter, new (modern fuel resistant) fuel lines, brake pads, shoes, flexis, hard lines (where required), disc brake conversion, all new wheel bearings, spring plates and new stainless bolts, shock absorbers, bulbs, switches, bonnet & boot seals, steering box, along with countless screws, bolts and fixing hardware etc etc blah, blah. This list isn't exhaustive, please refer to my build thread if you want a full run down. I apologise in advance for the tom foolery you will encounter throughout said thread. In summary, anything the car needed, it got. Again, pictures speak a thousand words so let's see some of the (not so) oily bits, in no particular order: As you can see, during the recommission, I (and friends) have cleaned and fitted everything with care and, in addition to the fitment of the new and refurbed parts listed, the car has had the valves, points, spark plugs and timing set correctly in addition to several oil changes and a gearbox oil refresh. In addition to the recommissioning work above yet more has been done in the last couple of months to correct a blowing exhaust head stud and growing oil leak. The car received (in no particular order); new head studs, new pushrod tubes & seals, new flywheel oil seal and O-Ring, 4 into 1 header, single quiet pack muffler, 2 new heat exchangers, various gaskets, seals and sundries along with (yet another) oil change. Consequently the car now runs smoothly, quietly and beautifully with no flat spots, idle issues or oil leaks (yes really). As an added bonus the heating and demisting system also works AND is controllable via the original factory levers inside the car! He'll happily sit at 60-65mph all day long (More if you’re feeling fruity). This reads as a far more impressive 100+kph on the speedo so you can convince yourself that you're driving an IDA'd beast (as long as you ignore the fact that everything is overtaking you). Again, don't take my word for it, have a listen: To be continued....

And Finally....That's it, I'm spent. If you could possibly need to know anything else take a look at the build thread.... www.volkszone.co.uk/VZi/showthread.php?t=645853....or if you'd prefer to lose the waffle and cut to the chase there are nearly 800(!) photos for you to view here: s36.photobucket.com/user/smulls/library/Rudolph?sort=3&page=1If that's still not enough or you have a specific question, get in touch and I'll do my best to answer the question or get any specific photos (unless you want a photo of my nuts, I'll do anything for love but i won't do that). So why am I selling? I have mixed emotions about the sale but it isn't a sad or forced sale and I'm happy in the knowledge that I (and others on this forum) have saved a bug from an uncertain future in a rainy yard in Yorkshire. I've been as honest as I can but it is a 31 year old car so I would urge you to view to make up your own mind. It's not the best Beetle available today but it's arguably the best at the price. I love this car, it was meant to be a keeper and I have treated it as such right up until this point, but nothing is forever and times & people change. A recent mid-life crisis saw me buy a red Porsche, closely followed by the purchase of (very) late model Mexican 1600i which I also love. I have neither the space nor the finances to keep 4(!) cars so something has to give. Unfortunately, that means the hatchet has to fall on poor Rudolph (much as I love him) but my loss is somebody else’s gain and I would like to see a good home for him; fools and foolish offers won’t be entertained, so think again Nigerian Prince paying via Western Union, the car will go nowhere without cleared funds. And what is the price? For all this Mexican loveliness I require only £2795 o.v.n.o. and a kiss from your fair lips. You can contact me via PM, email (smull@talk21.com) or contact me via either method for a phone number if you would rather talk about the car. My name is Andy and the car is located near Warrington close to the M56 / M6 / M62 and A580 road network, so a breeze to reach from most places. I shall leave you with some final picamatures of our life together (typed with a tear in one eye): Cheers, Andy
