	At the moment i have a setup like this They work ok but i find i spend a while squinting in the dim light then maybe decide to turn the light on. Then i probably forget to turn them off If they came on as i walked near and then off it would be very handy These are the type of LEDs i'm using www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3-1W-MR16-GU5-3-LED-Light-Bulb-3W-12V-Warm-White-/222111427856?hash=item33b6df6d10:g:MLkAAOSwvg9XfjV0 This is what it's like in normal light No exactly dark but when you're there it can be hard to see in detail So obviously lights make it better it's a faff turning them on and off

	Motion sensors can switch off lights if you are standing still so you'll need one with a decent time on period. I've got 12v versions from China and quality seems no worse than a mains version from anywhere else. However remember they need power 100% of the time so are a constant drain on the battery. What about a pneumatic switch ? The type you press to switch on and it then slowly bleeds air back (adjustable) in so after a while switch goes off ?

	Or use a photo sensor so they go on when it's dark, with a switch by/on the door. So the system comes live as you open the door, lights come on if it's dark and then the system goes off when you go back out. (No idea of this would work ion practice but sounds plausible) With a motion detector you may find the light going out at a critical time and you end up flailing your arms around to get them back on. Been in a few office toilets like that!
