I bought the car over a year ago as a stock 320i auto and ran around in it happily until the head gasket blew and I decided to take the opportunity to give it more power and a manual gearbox. I sourced a crash-damaged 1999 323i convertible and transplanted the engine and 'box, and I've ran the car daily ever since. It's got some nice features like leather interior and opening rear quarter windows. The engine is at the factory 170 BHP, but with an M50 manifold and remap it'll be at about 200. I always intended to do that but it looks like I won't get the chance now. It has the auto 3.45 diff so it's quicker off the line than standard, makes for fun driving!

Good bits: I use this car every day, runs absolutely great! Pulls really nicely and drives spot on. Recorded as a 2.5 on the logbook with correct engine number. The leather interior is in good condition with minimal bolster wear.
Just fitted a new Febi propshaft coupling. New viscous fan coupling put on when the engine was fitted. New alloy thermostat housing and thermostat to replace the plastic one that often cracks. New starter motor about 6 months ago. The underside is really solid, it's had one patch on the sill prior to my ownership, but doesn't need any welding. The arches are pretty good. It's never been drifted! I took it up the quarter mile to see how fast it was, but that's all (15.5 seconds if you were wondering). Been my daily driver for over a year.
Not so good bits: The driver's window has stopped working. It stays in the fully up position and doesn't affect the door opening / closing, it needs a new motor. Sunroof doesn't open, I've not looked into why. The paint is a bit of a variety of shades when you look closely, but it still shines up well. Heater blower is a bit noisy but works. Headliner is a bit droopy. Bit of a clunk from a droplink or bush at the front. MOT advised the back box is blowing slightly but I can't say I've noticed.
It's a really great car, and I'd be keeping it if it wasn't for needing something more practical. Will consider a p/x or swap for an estate car such as a Mercedes W210, Golf, Passat etc... try me.
