The situation in the middle east HAS sent the price of oil into orbit mind you Rev!
If 104's idea was adopted we could reasonably expect the price of insurance to come down a bit cos at the moment everyone pays into a pot to pay for these scratters + chavs who drive round without insurance. it's a fair idea.

It does sounds like a good plan, and I know that the price of oil has gone up a lot, but the problem is the British Government seized the opportunity, and as well as making up for the price increase by increasing fuel prices, are making even more of a tidy little profit than they already were, they do it all the time, they see that they can justifiably increase fuel tax a little, so they increase it by a lot and then exaggerate as to exactly how much the price had to go up by. Mind you if the idea of putting it in with the fuel costs went ahead you'd need to really crack down on all the guys who use red diesel (cheaper agricultural stuff with a dye in it so it can be identified easily) to save on buying diesel for their diesel cars, since it's only legally for tractors/agricultural machinery etc it'd mean they'd be able to claim it was for something that they're not paying road tax on as it isn't a road vehicle, and I know more than a few guys who do that. Even more of them I know nick it rather than buy it too, this is one dodgy neighbourhood lately! ;D ;D ;D ;D

Just got an even better quote - £166 including legal protection and protected no claims, from churchill.com.

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.
