This is awesome. I have the charade gtti and feel your pain with the turbo itching to boost cruising at 70. Maybe the ihi rbh5 off the gtti may be well suited? Ive upgraded mine to a gt17 but is on a 1l engine. Be interested to see the amount of sound deading it mine with what you said about yours. Could push mine to 800kgish

Very easy to crank up the boost to silly levels. Not so easy to get it to stay together, as you have found out. Would be worth engineering the engine to handle that type of boost. Not really. This isn't just some engine with the boost wound up. The AFRs are fine and zero det. I've been speccing/owning/building big power turbo engines for 10+ years. It's been a big part of my job for 10+ years. This was just a silly low budget project to see what it'd do, but the fundamentals were as good. 1.5bar peak and 1.3bar held isn't silly, it's pretty low, almost no factory forced induction cars need uprated internals for that kind of boost if done right. |

Ending on eBay in just under 24hrs. Over 100 watchers, but if any of these watchers actually have 2 pennies to rub together or if they're all dreamers remains to be seen lol.
If it doesn't sell I'll be whipping the head off to prove it's just the HG then likely breaking it, as it's worth more to the Avanzato lot who'll want the transmission etc etc as spares than anyone else I suspect.
