Hello all!
So I just bought a new car, and now having 3 cars on the drive is too much, hence I am selling my Fiesta.
It's taxed and MOT'd until 30th July, so really not very long, but this of course helps with shifting it if someone is interested.
This car probably suits someone who either wants to make some easy money breaking it or fixing it up, as I don't think the repairs are too major for someone who knows what they're doing. I just don't have time.
If nobody shows interest pretty quickly, it will be going to the scrappy or being stored at a yard for possible rally esk fun.
I shan't lie, it's pretty knackered as it's been my daily for the last 5 years. In that time it's had a new alternator, new back box and new disks/pads fairly recently. The engine, while looking knackered, has been consistently reliable. It's started every time without fail since I've had it. It's also had a new ignition barrel as that went, so different keys for the locks and engine.
The good bits
Solid engine
- averages above 40mpg still
Very reliable starter
Working central locking
A working, non leaky sun roof
Everything stock
Just under 97k on the clock (genuine)
Relatively OK interior, needs a clean though
There are a few bad bits though. The main issues are;
Sill rust on the passengers side, 2 holes
Drivers side sill is solid, just needs some attention to stop it going any further
Passengers side under sill
Passenger rear wheel arch - the worst by far, but generally still solid and mostly surface rust
Boot lid rust in a few places
General boot area
Small patch of rust but no hole
4x arch rust (still fairly solid underneath the crust)
Drivers side rear wheel
Drivers side front wheel under car
A blown exhaust mid section
Exhaust also needs realigning
General bonnet and bumper rust
Failed electric window motors (fine in winter!)
Nearside Outer Front constant velocity joint gaiter slightly deteriorated but likely only an advisory
Clutch can get very sticky when warm - apparently this is the clutch ratchet (quadrant) - an easy job, just a bit long. I've driven the car for 2+ years with it sticky, just a quirk of the car!
General scratches, dents and dings on a very well used car.
It's been sat on the road unused for a week or so, just jumped in and it drove fine, quick trip on the dual carriageway with no bother. I've done 300 mile round trips to Carlisle every weekend for the last 2 years with no trouble.
Obviously not looking for much at all for this car given its state. If bought before or on the 30th, you can drive it home saving yourself trailer hire/towing it. Price is £125, parts alone are worth considerably more. If I get no sales I might long-term store it and make it a very slow, cheap resto/rally.
To clarify to get this through an MOT I think it would need;
Possibly 2 new tyres
Fix exhaust mid section and sag
2 sill rust holes
Not to care that the car looks like a dogs dinner
Optional extras that could be fixed that don't, and haven't yet constituted a fail previously;
Sticky clutch when warm
Wheel arch rust
Boot rust and holes, which are non-structural and not exposed with the boot down
Electric window fix
Cheers
