1993 Cavalier Turbo. Glacier white in original specification with 113k.
I bought 3 yrs ago from a friend who had recently bought it himself but needed to raise some cash quickly. He had bought the car from a Vauxhall salesman who took the car in px from a chap who had the vehicle for approx 10yrs and only covered 1500 miles in that time. It was MOT’d ever year and the mileage is supported by those test certificates. 12 months MOT.
The specification is an early model with no airbag, mechanical clocks, velour seats, no air con but electric sunroof. Everything works as it should.
The car has undergone extensive bodywork to remedy any rust issues to ensure it remains in good condition for future years. This includes both rear wheel arches replaced with new panels, both sills, areas on the inner wheel arches and any other corrosion identified has been removed and replaced with new metal. The floor has also been recoated with stone chip protection. A powdercoated rear subframe replaced the original, along with new bushes & rear wheel bearings. All glass was removed and the full exterior repainted as well as the bumpers and bodykit. There is a small crack in the paint on the front bumper under the black texture, which happened when the skin was changed onto a better shell.
The wheels were also painted and fitted with new Uniroyal Rainsport 3, along with new badges.
Mechanically, I have changed all the fluids (except the rear diff oil but is included) with Vauxhall parts from Vauxparts. The cam belt & tensioners have also been changed. The gearbox has been rebuilt by Geartech due to noisy diff bearings, while it was out I fitted a new Sach clutch and the gearbox was filled with OE oil. I have also changed the steering rack for a Calibra Turbo version with polybushed mounts and tie rods, themselves changed for new Saab galvanised variants, original rack included.
Externally the badges have been replaced or refurbed. The aerial rubber and side repeaters replaced. The foglights have also been swapped for uncracked, good condition OE units. It does however needs a new boot Griffin.
Interior is clean and correct, there is a small hole on the inside of the drivers bolster and the handbrake & gear gator would benefit from replacing. The dash was replaced as the original had holes for a phone kit and the clocks were changed for a perfect set with no pealing on the dials. There is also an original set of Vauxhall mats with the red branding in good condition. The steering wheel was also changed for an excellent example at great expense.
I have covered approx 1000miles without issue and just needs the final few touches.
To summarise the work undertaken;
Glass out paint with any rust replaced with new metal.
Full service, including cambelt.
Refurbed gearbox.
New clutch.
Replacement powder coated rear subframe, with new bushes.
New rear wheel bearings.
New lower suspension arms and ARB droplinks.
Refurbed wheels and new Uniroyal Rainsport 3.
Dashboard replaced.
Excellent condition clocks and exceptional steering wheel.
It is an original spec vehicle, which has been brought back to a great standard and in a rising market surely has to be sensible investment at £5500 ono.
