For sale due to impending redundancy, my Porsche 944S2. I spent most of last summer looking at 944s and this is the best one I came across, I clocked up a lot of miles looking at rusty shitters that were described as mint! so I'm going to describe this car as accurately as possible, I don’t want anyone being disappointed….
Good points
Its an S2! In good unmolested condition, no suspension mods or aftermarket bodykit.
It’s a fine example of the 3.0l 16v motor, as far as I'm aware the biggest mass production 4 cylinder engine ever made! Runs brilliantly, produces loads of power, and doesn’t use any oil or coolant. The oil and coolant are both clean, history shows the cambelt was changed at 152.5k in October 2012, the car is now showing 164.5k.
It drives brilliantly, incredibly tight, no knocks, bangs or rattles. I had the OSR wheel bearing replaced earlier this year, and changed the NSF myself. Brakes are fantastic after I stripped and rebuilt them in order to replace the handbrake shoes.
Completely rot free. I had a look around underneath when it was on the ramp for the last MOT, this car is totally solid.
Clean off white Porsche script interior, no rips, burns or bolster wear.
The electric sunroof and windows behave as they should! Unusual for a 944….
It doesn’t leak! Again, unusual for a 944…..
It has a Porsche clubsport steering wheel, theres a couple on ebay at the minute for between £300 and £550! Also has a quickshift kit fitted, feels very positive.
Boxster S wheels, 17 x 8j5 at the back and 17 x 7j up front with as new tyres.
Decent Aux in/USB head unit.
Viper alarm/immobiliser (with two fobs)
Lots of history that documents the vast amounts of money spent on this car over the years. Lots of receipts, past MOTs, handbooks and service record. 2 keys.
Mot till Jan 2017
Bad Points
The car is a Cat C, and has been since 1995. I ran a HPI check to try and find out some detail on this, but as it was pre database (1998) I couldn’t find out what the damage was. I crawled all over this car when I bought it, and I honestly cant tell where the accident damage was, so it was repaired to a very high standard. Its been through 20 MOTS since, so I wasn’t at all worried about it, but obviously the price reflects the Cat C status.
The paint on the right hand side is flatter than the rest of the car, It has clearly been repainted at some point during the cars history. Doesn’t detract from the overall look of the car. There are a few chips and scratches around the body, and a small area of blistering around the Porsche script above the rear bumper. As you can tell from the pictures it still shines well!
The back end has a bit of a rattle when cold that I suspect is the torque tube bearings. It seems to quieten down as the car warms up, and hasn’t got any louder in the time ive owned the car. I had the independent Porsche specialist that did the rear wheel bearing drive it and he said it sounded fine?
As with many 944s, the dash clock/lap timer lcd has bled. Replacements are available through ebay, I never got round to doing it.
The car is available for viewing in south Manchester
Open to offers, but no PX, cash is king at the minute.
Cheers, Loz
