Righto, I appreciate that this might not be everyone's cup of tea, but I detect a decent amount of luuurve for the old E38 on here right now and it's time to take advantage.
What we have here are two, yes, two 1997, Oxford Green 735is. The great advantage of these two cars is that unless your missus sees both of them at the same time, she'll never know there are two. You could have one in the garage and one in the drive and she'd be none the wiser.
So,
the first one
is ex FOAD. It runs and drives superbly. We put a brand new radiator in it and it runs beautifully. It gets to temperature and it sits stable. Really drives well.
Good gearbox (remember this bit)
Driver's window goes up and down (this bit too)
Radio works (and this bit)
Not terribly rusty. Interior better than decent.
Fuel tank leaks with more than £20 in it.
Brakes shocking.
The Second One
also has an engine which is absolutely faultless and both cars can be viewed running. I think.
This car is immaculate and drove faultlessly before the torque converter went kaput in true German fashion. It has service history from BMW right up until December 2014.
GOOD:
New OEM BMW springs all round fitted in November 2015.
New K&N air filter
New brake servo
Cream leather seats and interior no rips is in immaculate condition. Matching OE floor mats.
Front bushes done.
Front and rear brakes done about 3 months ago.
The car is also solid underneath, the body work is pretty immaculate and the car polishes up well.
BAD:
Both front wings slight dints in arch with chips but easy fix - particularly if you've a car the same colour with good wings.
Tiny bubbles on rear arches.
Gearbox kaput
Drivers windows needs a new regulator.
Radio does not work
No fuel tank in this car, but if all goes according to plan, there should be a tank with what "seems be a pinhole and its on the bottom not the seam. Should be easy to patch and get 2-3 more years out of the curse word shirley? Be a doddle if youve got a 4 point lift" available to go with it.
There's also a 1998 E39 528i lying about minus engine and gearbox. Lots of parts are interchangeable between E38 and E39, switchgear obc, radio etc. The E39 is also Oxford Green bizarrely.
The two E38s probably owe me in the region of £650 or so all in including what I've bought for them and what I've sold off them. They'll make one stunning car with a couple of days work and you'll have a full car for spares.
The E39 owes me the square root of curse word all now and can go with the E38s if you want it. Good beige leather interior, good radio, CD player clocks suspension. Put the spare v8 engine and a gearbox in it and drift the life out of it if that's your bag.
