Hey, I'm back again , and I've come to the conclusion that it's going to be virtually impossible for me to pick a car aha that's the problem being a car guy there's just so much out there you can't decide I started off looking at J classics which I don't think are going to be easy to find. Mk1 Golfs, polos but idk about these not exactly into the stance side of things at all. Anyway I believe the picture is of an Opel Kadett correct me if I'm wrong but that's a lovely looking car I just love that shape of car I just wanted to ask what is there out there that doesn't carry an escort price tag with a similar body to the picture. I don't know how much the Opel's go for and if you can even get them anymore just found out about them last night . Cheers, Jack Couldn't get images to work so here's a link to them gyazo.com/09d52cbee70d6440522e86f5010eca7agyazo.com/fbec595f26e332e18b4a4a4000cadd64

Holden Gemini
Closest thing that's available or affordable would be a Hillman Hunter or Vauxhall Viva I would have thought?

The first car is a Kadett C, the second is an Ascona. Both of these had Vauxhall equivalents in the UK - the Chevette and Cavalier respectively (although the Opel models were also available over here too). The Kadett was a GM world car and has versions by Opel, Vauxhall, Holden and Isuzu and was available as a 2dr & 4dr saloon, a 3dr estate, 3dr hatch, panel estate/van, coupe and convertible. If you're after a classic looking two door saloon, then the Chevette isn't a bad idea, but you might want to consider a Viva too - either in HB or HC variety. Otherwise, you've already ruled out Escorts on cost grounds - but an Avenger might be an option - although two-doors are rare and more expensive. Kadett Ascona Chevette Cavalier HB Viva HC Viva Avenger If you can put up with more doors, or even FWD, then things could be more accessible and flexible.

Kadett if you want that front end or Chevette if you like your car's pointy.
I always preferred the Opel front end.
They still turn up so shouldn't have too much difficulty finding one.
2 and 4 door saloon 3 door estate 3 door van 3 door hatch Opel did a coupe. Good luck finding a cheap one.

despite owning products of wayne cherry's crayon box since i started driving, i also prefer the opel variants. as said though, up till the late 70s there were opel dealers in the uk selling right hand drive opels. so answer to "what car can i get that looks like an opel kadett" = opel kadett

Yes, they sold kabillions over here so a few must have survived.

Have a look at Autoscout 24 if you think you could live with lhd and fancy the idea of a road trip.

2 doors Cavaliers are like hen's teeth and will be very pricey, I was a teenager in the 1980's and I think I could count the number of 2 door Cavaliers I've ever seen on one hand. At that time a lot of people were moving over from 2 or 4 doors to hatches; Cavalier 3-dr(Quite a handsome car I think). Of the 2 doors that are about & affordable, they all seem to be convertibles, (could you live with a convertible?); Cavalier convertibleDittoDitto

If you're no too fixated on the GM brands how about a Marina - not loads of modified ones around so plenty of scope to put your own spin on it. Or (don't laugh) a Lada. A bit more boxy than the other suggestions above, and early ones are getting a bit scarce but:-
