Here's that video I promised in you want to really hear it cranking...
As Dad said when I called him with an update, at least the amount of cranking it has gotten will have sorted out the cobwebs, and not under load.

So near, yet so far.....
Good to see your boy out there with you.
I am looking forward to him building that Steam Punk themed scooter.

Yes, but at least I'm now managing to work on it, which is more than half the fun... Good to see your boy out there with you. I am looking forward to him building that Steam Punk themed scooter. Yes, he's a good lad. Now that scooter, well that'll need a whole new thread!

Well, as I said, having been asleep for 36 years this beauty obviously wanted some real careful handling. I tinkered some more and managed to break one of the plug ones (I'll post some pictures of these later, they're dead on their feet), and then I called my favourite mechanic (Dad back in South Africa) and had a chat. With dad's advice ringing in my ears I went to work, and on getting home tonight I couldn't wait to get out to the garage. Here's a compilation of the result. If you want to see some more, this video is a bit longer... The story behind the above will be updated in later instalments...

Congratulations, it sounds remarkably well and smooth for an engine of that age that has spent so long stood. Was it making decent oil pressure?

Sorry about the delay, I needed to get a pic to show you. A bit difficult to make out, gauges need cleaning and maybe new decals. Oil pressure looks good, as does generator charging the 6-volt system.

I hope you,are going to share a Google image or two of just where you were "working" tonight Craig. I am purple with positive envy. You should be. Instead of Chevy time today, I had to "work". This was the view from the "office". I was invited to dinner by a supplier to discuss tech trends in the industry. The venue was the Shangri-La Hotel at the Shard. The above picture was taken from the 34th floor, just after Portugal scored their 2nd goal.

I assume you mean the dinner and the view. Absolutely. Worth every penny and then some (well, I didn't actually spend anything, even the train ticket will be expensed ). And to be fair, I didn't even pay the price of boring company, the company was great too and the chat interesting... (Cars were mentioned...)

The story behind the above will be updated in later instalments... In case you're wondering, I haven't forgotten this promise to provide more details later. Family life and work means most time for proper updates is likely to happen on weekends. So you rather looked out of the window than witnessing Wales burrying their biggest dream! You´re a gentleman! btw. don´t be surprised if I contact you soon via pm to ask you something about a certain tech trend, as Rian gave me a hint you might be THE MAN to ask... More than happy to indulge in discussions on other topics. I have all kinds of varied interests (too many with too little time in the day) and will happily bore anyone with my knowledge if they want. Fire away. Speaking of other interests, eclectic tastes, etc, I won this on Ebay on Monday for the grand sum of £31. A colleague who lives near the seller then volunteered to collect it, which he did last night while I was "working" and will be dropping it at my place tonight after work. A virtual beer to anyone who can guess it's purpose (PS: It's broken, so won't work as fridge, hence the price)
