1985 Golf GTi 3 Door 8v £2495 Now on eBay
MOT until 10 May 2017
I have had this car since November and have ploughed a lot of time and money into it, using it daily. Sadly my circumstances have changed and so either it or my 635CSi must go. The BMW has won. My loss is your gain. I have focused on making it as mechanically solid as I can which can be testified by 5000 miles with only one break down (the day after I bought it a coolant hose split)
The work I have carried out includes but is certainly not limited to:
Engine and gearbox
The engine are gearbox are both in very good fettle and running perfectly. The K-Jet is fully functional and the car returns a steady 35mpg. Work done includes:
Complete set of Myrle coolant hoses, clips and radiator fitted
Full new exhaust system fitted 4 months ago
All new engine and gearbox mounts
New lift pump and filter
Gearbox oil replaced
New gear linkage kit fitted
New clutch kit and main seal fitted 2500 miles ago
Recent new alternator
Suspension and brakes
The car is currently on 40mm lowering springs and uprated dampers which it came with. The ride is firm but not terrible by any stretch and it does handle extremely well.
The lower arms and bushes have all been recently replaced as well.
Goodrich braided hoses all round with new calipers, pads and copper brake lines.
Bodywork and Electrics
Structurally the shell is extremely sound with no rot in the chassis legs or floors. The previous owner has had a new front valence and rear boot panel fitted which has been carried out to a good standard.
New front sub frame captive nuts have been welded in
The floor has been stripped and a small patch welded in under the accelerator pedal. The floors have been subsequently painted in gloss white and anti-rust primer.
The car has all of the correct features that make the 84 and 85 cars different including the MPG gauge in the dash (working), striped interior and 7 slat grille. The Pirelli-P alloys are also all present and correct with good matching tyres.
The headlining is missing
New locks all round with matching keys
High intensity bulb and loom conversion with relays
Replaced the leaking door seals and heater gasket
Cosmetically the car would benefit from some tidying and ideally needs to be resprayed. There is a small amount of surface rust on the roof and mismatched paintwork which is annoying but is reflected in the price.
I would drive this car anywhere with no hesitation and will deliver to any location mainland UK if costs are covered. A comprehensive spares package and all of the service history I have is included in the sale.
Any questions please contact me on O7732 626[nine]52 or jamesbarratt[at]live.co.uk
These photos are from the advert and when I first bought it but nothing has changed cosmetically since then. I will get some more up to date photos tomorrow.
Thanks for looking
James
