Hi. Just joined here after reading through the TonyBMW make a repair panel epic. Great stuff. Not got any pictures yet as just starting but don't suppose anyone here has a 304 cabriolet. My info is that there are about 80 in the country and of those 50 are on the road. Would love to hear from you if you have one.

One of the coolest cars ever made (IMHO), so welcome!

Such a cool and pretty little car. Are you planning a full resto? Any plans for mods?

No plans for any mods Tom. Served my apprenticeship on them many moons (40+ years) ago. Would like to restore to near original. Got hard and soft tops. Unfortunately some clown has already made an of welding large areas of it so got a lot of cutting and fabricating to do. No body panels of any sort are available and I am a vehicle technician not a body man. Engine and rear suspension are coming out this week to ease the strain on the shell while I cut out the floor and sills. Brace bars will be welded across the door gaps to stop twisting. Will post pics as it progresses.

Is it possible to import bits from France? Could even go for a nice jaunt and cut some panels out. Still seemed to be a few of the Saloon version of these when I was lost over there.

Always liked these. My father had a 304 van when I was a kid, thought that was cool too.
Good luck
BOOKMARKED :-)

Very cool indeed. This was my dream car when I was 18 and could only afford a rusty 304 saloon

Tom I did suggest a holiday to France so I could scour the countryside for parts but her indoors gave me "THE LOOK" so that is not happening. Don't think I need much in the way of body panels. It's more chassis repairs and various trim and door seals etc. The rear wheel arch should repair hopefully and unless I find lots of filler the rest is ok. Most mechanical parts are available after a search.

Absolutely brilliant. Always fancied one or a 504 Coupe/Convertible. Supremely stylish machines.

Great little cars! I almost bought one many years ago, I walked past it every day on the way to school, it hadn't moved for some years and one day I plucked up the courage to knock on the door and ask if it was for sale, to my surprise they said it was and only wanted a couple of hundred pounds for it. With that I went home and asked if I could buy it with the money I'd saved from my paper round and do it up and have it as my first car, only to be told there was absolutely no way I was aloud to buy it. That started one of my biggest teenage strops in history. ( think along the lines of Kevin and Perry but worse)
In hind sight I would probably never have got it finished in time to start driving lessons, still didn't stop me wanting it.

Luckily I can weld better than I can post on here. First 2 pics show how not to weld the floor with new metal welded under the original rotten floor. Other pics are of the car on the spit. Will take more pics next time the car is uncovered.
