Hi All Been on here for a while, set up an account a few years back and lost the log in details, however did not really have much to post at the time. So the 2002 has been off the road since 1992, been in my ownership since I was 16- so 16 years and kept warm and dry in various garages for all this time. My mother purchased this car as a stop gap car for £51 back in 1989, my dad got it running- she liked it so much she used it daily until 1992. For various reasons she could not keep the car so I claimed it as mine and have kept it since. Th car is very original, and rough and ready, my idea is to get the car running, upgrade wheels (deep steels) and suspension (GAZ Coilovers), couple of nice e30 M Sport seats, half cage and run it with bodywork as is for a year before sinking big money into it. The idea is to go down the track car route as I have 90 Pre-facelift e30 325i Cabby as my immaculate weekend car and 96 e36 328 Cabby as my general car- all 3 are matching black. Works so far have been limited to a full engine rebuild by Thanet Engine Centre and various ancillary parts sourced through Jaymic, being done by my local Mechanic as a side project so progress is slow, but when you have someone you trust its best to stick with them. Engine re-build was pretty inclusive as pistons were completely seized from 24 years of doing nothing! Works included Valve seats re-cut Valves re-faced 4 New inlet valves Cylinder head pressure tested Head re-face New stem seals New cam seal 2 New rocker shafts Rockers re-faced New camshaft (high lift) New timing chain New oil pump New oil pump chain New oil pump sprocket Block rebored New pistons Crank polished New main bearings New big-end bearings Everything sonic cleaned Built with all new gaskets and seals Anyone know where I can source a reasonably priced twim weber set up? How do I add pictures?? Asks for a web address?

I'm going to be following this one, always like the 2002 - mainly for the rear lights.
That was good planning and determination to keep it just sitting waiting for 16 years.

Not really planning- just took over my nan's garage and left it there until she moved!!, luckily her garage was heated which has done the car well, unlike my farther Daimler Coupe that sat outside under tarp's and is now in pieces ready for a lot of welding! I'll knock up a thread for that too!

BOOKMARKED! One of my favourite cars of all times! They are getting so scarce and sought after that, in my humble opinion, deserves to be restored to original. Your other BeeEm also impressive!

Cheers for both above...
Is the E30 not retro enough for local meets Hardcore?
The 2002 will be kind of original- anything removed will be kept for it. But really want it to be usable as opposed to perfect for now.

2002 is booked to have engine installed Friday, along with various other parts I have brought over the past few months,
My issue is the carb is not looking good, have brought a gasket kit but ideally want to upgrade to twin 40's 45's- any advise on a good swap, reasonable cost option would be greatly appreciated.

Oooh! I do like the look of the E36 e My e36 run around seems to get more love than my e30 pride and joy! Theres a little tread of it on here too mate. 2002 engine is in, just sorting carb's etc, once that is done e36 will be getting a few pounds spent on it ready for use in winter, brakes, suspension- thinking of Aplina front rarther than M Sport

E30 does it for me got any better pictures though? For the carbs I bought a second hand set and refurbed them for my Escort, but it all adds up when you need the manifold, unions and throttle cable. If you can find a set that are right for your car, it'll save you a lot of time and money! Love the 02 and back story. Bookmarked as I do love a bit of old BMW!

Small Update
Engine in as of last Friday- runs but carb is the issue as expected, so i've bitten the bullet and ordered Weber Twin 45 DCOE's, manifold, linkage ect ect- 890 quid's worth but was a mod I wanted to to do long term anyway.
All should arrive built up in the next 10 days, so having callipers refurbished and a couple of small patch welds then it will be MOT time- all being well it will be on the road soon, but looking very ratty until I save a few more pennies up.

Quick update Carb's are here, and on ish.... Upgraded the fuel pump in the end and filter, total came in at £1,008.94 from Fast Road Cars Newport, the guy there has great knowledge and advise would really recommend them, all came build up and in 5 days, along with a few notes/ tips on fitting etc. Pics below
