After some advice I'm in the middle of a engine conversion and the std engine driven pas pump is in the way lve had this problem in the past and I've got round it by using a electric pump from a saxo/106 but it only had two wire so pretty simple
now days the the saxo pumps are getting harder to find and let face it they stopped making the cars 15 years ago so there all old now so I've been looking into a newer version like VAG/ford/VX and it looks like most are the same as one another but they all have two or three multi plugs on them so how do you wire them up?
they still have the main feed wires IE the two big live/earth wires and my guess is the other wires are to control how heavy or light the power steering is to operate
so so my question is has anyone used this type of pump and if so can you just wire it up using the two big wires (like the saxo) and not use the rest or is it more difficult

Photo of a typical pump Do not touch that kind of pump, they need an ECU and an angle sensor to run them. Saxo pump is bullet proof and lasts forever anyways. In 10 years in the motor trade I haven't sold a single one. Stick with that.

Really? I've know loads of them fail. My mate at a local french car breakers used to get £20 each for them as old core, he collected them by the pallet load and sent them to Poland for refurb. They usually get noisy and seize up, or alternatively they lock up after being stood for a while.
The VAG pumps like that talk to an ECU and a steering angle sensor to set the pressure. If they're not happy with the input, they turn off completely.
You could probably bypass the electronics to feed 12v to the motor directly, but they draw an incredible amount of current when run flat out.

Yep, kill them loads of time, most of the ones out of crashed cars die fast because they don't like impacts either, try to get one out of a rear ended car if possible.
I'd guess the reason you haven't sold any is because nobody with a 106 or Saxo is buying a new pump that costs the same as the car...

Thanks for all the advice guys much appreciated If I can stick with the engine driven pump I will but if a cant then il look at the merc pump as it's probably a bit more reliable and newer I have the very same clearance issue and requirement for an epas pump so I've been doing loads of reading on and off over the past year, and my findings are: Get one from a Vauxhall. They are cheap and simple to wire. They aren't much bigger than the Saxo/106 ones so I can't comment on reliability, especially if you fit it to a heavier car, but basically they are the only ones you can wire easily. The kit car people use them a lot, so much that I managed to find a wiring diagram for one off a forum, I can't remember where I saved it but I'll dig it out if you remind me. Literally this: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ASTRA-G-MK4-ELECTRIC-POWER-STEERING-PUMP-PAS-98-04-/110492822716?hash=item19b9e2acbc:m:mvMAQzFF4AIIP6OwAh9COXABeers.

I've had a 106 and a few mates have had them too. So far no issues with any of them
