Hello everyone, some of you may know about my car project (a ropey XJS). In the case that I can't manage to get it to an MOT station to find a list of faults, would anyone be willing to come over to see my car and give an honest assessment whether it's worth saving or not? Car is currently in Stafford. I may be 16, but I'm a polite nice guy in real life. A bit of compensation / drinks on offer for anyone's advice. PM if you can help me out Thanks, Seb Wilkes

Ah wish I was nearer (try 250 miles away!!!) and I'd come and let you know fella, I've been there myself and it's a horrible feeling not knowing whether to plough on or cut your losses.
Best bet is to see if you can get a mot tester or even someone who works in a garage to come and look at it, give them some flannel that your hoping to restore it for your dad or mum etc as people won't (sadly) take you seriously otherwise. Offer in advance to pay for their time as I find that always helps, you should get a proper opinion then, maybe not the one you want to hear, but sometimes it takes fresh eyes to see what maybe we don't see!!!!

If I am ever up that way I'll see if I can give you an assesement. I probably am not the best person however, I am more ruthless than I used to be and if I am honest it has worked for me recently!

Hi Seb, in the sentiment of my last posts on your other thread (now closed off or whatever) - I apologise if I was ever rude to you, not my intention. Let's start over. I'm sure you've created a thread on PistonHeads already but there is a recommendation for a place called JoJags in Speke - not sure how far away from you that is? Anyway, this is the thread - hope it helps.

I haven't joined PH actually because I felt my car was too old for them but I might do in the future; who knows? Yeah that doesn't sound too far if the car came closer.

Hi Seb.
I think I saw one of your posts over on the 'welding' forum. You took quite a beating there, from a tough crowd. I'm sorry, I can't offer help or advice. But just encouragement.
Great to see a young person getting involved these days, so good luck with your project, or any future ones you take on. We need youngsters like you to keep going or we'll all be driving the soul less curse word currently on offer.
All the best mate. Wayne.
