For Sale: My lovely Mercedes 190e in Malachite Metallic.
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/122000383705
A little back story first:
This car came to me last year from a private collection in Norfolk. Unknown to me, the collector is quite well known in Mercedes circles - and he certainly had some impressive examples around the place.
In a nutshell:
Mercedes 190e 2.0 8v Manual
Malachite Green Metallic
150,500 miles
Leather interior
Factory fitted (and very rare) air conditioning
MOT until September
Full Service History with invoices and stamps
Last week, the engine decided to part company with the timing chain - and as a consequence the car has suffered valve damage. I briefly considered having it repaired, but as I have five other cars that need my attention - I've decided to let this one go.
You've got three options really
1) Top end rebuild. Prior to the incident the car was running beautifully, having just had a new head gasket fitted and a full service carried out.
2) Replace like for like with a new engine. M102 engines are about £200 on ebay. This will be cheaper than option 1.
3) Replace with a 2.3 engine from an E Class. This is a straight forward bolt in replacement, as the 190e came with a 2.3 engine in other markets (South Africa etc). Again, engines are around £150-£200.
New parts fitted in the last few months include new OEM water pump, alternator, distributor, cap, leads, plugs , manifold gasket and breather pipes.
I am genuinely heartbroken at having to sell up. I have receipts here for £1500 of jobs since last September. However, I really need to focus on my other cars, so it's time to do this before I get sentimental.
The car is located between St Neots and Cambridge on the A428. Obviously, it will need to be trailered/A Framed/towed away. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I have absolutely no idea what a car in this condition is worth, so I'll let the market decide and allow the auction to run to close.
