So after deciding that my wife needs her own 2nd car , i sat and made a list, it had to be big and capable of carrying are dog and some of are 5 kids in comfort , be safe because of the kids and dog and something that can be made quick and i will want to use it. So i go hunting for an 850r or t5 has to be auto as my wifes licence states this. Then I'm just going through facebook pages and this saab appears , full mot , very clean , 105k with full history and fully loaded with all the goodies. Its also 10 mins from my house , downside its spares or repair with turbo issues. I message the guy and offer him my tip run picasso that i got for free off my scrap dealing friend to help me clear my house before we move next month and he says yes , so last night i make the trip over with my pal and am greated by a very clean and shiny saab that sounds a but like diesel and has white smoke coming out the back end. So i say great we have a deal and we drive the 10 miles home very slowly, it defo needs a turbo as its shot , but on upside after the drive it wasnt smoking unless it tried to come on boost . So this weekend will strip it down and sort it all out. Heres some pics

I'm sure you already know but the reason it sounds like a diesel and the turbo has gone could well be a blocked oil pickup strainer in the sump. The B2*5 series engines are well known for it as they had a curse word pcv system and small bits of rubber/plastic fall off the inside of the hoses into the oil system blocking the strainer.

I had an idea that it could be the case , I'm just going to strip it down and see what i see, i do have a 2.0t out of my 9-3 so for short term i may just swap engines over

Nice comfortable old wagons these. I just swapped my 9-5 Aero Estate for a 9-3 Vert. Hope you get the engine sorted.
