I'm looking to upgrade my acclaims breaks as I'm intending to push its boundaries over the next few years and i was always told to improve the braking before the engine.
but as its an acclaim theres only one option ive found, and the ebc pad wasnt that much better than std. so in the best BL tradition I'm parts bin diving.
originally it has a 215mm solid disc 4x100 stud, pads are 119x38mm, caliper is a 51mm single piston, and they are known to fade when pushed.
Ive got bmw mini 15" wheels so plenty of space, I'm looking at mg zr/zs 262mm vented discs pads are 129x69mm i think its a 54mm piston but I'm 100% sure. They were fitted to 120bhp cars that are alot heaver than the acclaim so i guess should be upto almost anything I'm going to throw at them.
I want to have a plan in hand for the next time the scrap yard has a wheel barrow day
I'm sure there are some brake experts about who can offer some advice.
Anyone have a mgzs or rover 25 and can mesure the mounting bolts spacing and distance from the hub center please.
