Triumph Toledo 1300 4dr 1974 (built late 73)
44332 miles (mot certs to April 2000 - 32546 miles)
last mot was 2012
Appears to have lived in Fareham, Swindon, and South East London since 1977 (old V5's present and odd bits of history)
Came to me from a barn/garage hence the dirt and grime everywhere
Very solid car, resprayed red (it's ok, looks smart enough from 5 ft) was originally green (still is on log book)
Good bits:
9
> comes on set of 5 Dolomite sprint wheels with red detailing and barely used tyres (two have slow punctures from either valve or seating) and original wheels and hubcaps (tyres are hanging!)
15 aluminium correct nuts (1 more required)
> Structurally very sound, very little rust that i can see
> Ran and drove home 3 miles to its current location
> It's a Toledo, these are relatively rare compared to a dolomite, they look good with Sprint wheels and a splitter (yup comes with one of those as well ), and it's free tax!
> rwd gr8 4 drftn. I had visions of bolting on another subframe and jacking it up and turning it into a gasser with a ford V6 in the front and open headers
Not so good:
> not currently running (the loom was half cut so i rewired it and in doing so have gone wrong......or it's out of fuel)
>interior is a bit of a state. Original drivers and rear seats. Unknown leather passengers seat. door cards all there, headlining non existant. Wiring is shoddy, new dash loom and stalks etc required (two smart car seats thrown in, or saxo vtr if you prefer...)
No keys, no ignition, no cowling, no stalks, some bodged indicator switch. Lights all work (ish)
Drivers door handle doesnt work from the outside
> Bodily she is solid but showing her age with scrapes, bumps, grazes and dinks and dents here and there. Almost certainly some filler to smooth off bodylines and aerial hole).
> roof was damaged in it's barn/garage lay up (I'm imagining a hay bale but probably just kids....) (its a shame there was a roof for sale on ebay for £20 but in York!)
> Rust - the front valance by one light, passenger rear door is rotten at the base, other wise appears solid (some bubbles on the doors)
> mechanically untested since i drove it July 2014. I used to start it regularly until my rewiring job!
All in all an honest 40+ year old Toledo that needs cosmetic love and attention to be back on the road. I've described her as best as I can, probably too honest but I would rather you know what you are looking at. Show winner she won't be but usable everyday car is achievable with the time and patience
Spare set of 5 dolly sprint wheels (poor tyres) available separately on negotiation
Looking for around£550 Ono dropped to £450ono(car is in Sidcup, South East London/Kent border)
Would love to keep it and actually drive it properly but I've got to be honest, I have 8 cars at the moment and not enough time. Couple that with an inheritance I received recently which has enabled me to get the driveway done, sell some cars and get better ones so I don't need a project when a few months down the line I can get a nice runner
thanks
Tim
