For sale is my rare 1979 BMW E12 520 Auto
This is a rare find nowadays as most will have dissolved in to the ground and been scrapped years ago.
This would make a great daily "survivor" with minor recommissioning, and would make a great retro cruiser lowered on a set of split rims!
It is in surprisingly good condition for an un-restored 1970's BMW.
It was first registered on 30th October 1979 and used as a demonstrator for BMW Park lane until the end of the year.
My car was then sold to the first private owner in January 1980, and the original sales invoice for this comes with the car!
I also have the original full service pack with original service history books and stickers, the original owners manual and the original BMW owners folder.
Going back to the '80s, now totally back in fashion, my car comes with the original '80's period Kenwood removable stereo and Cobra alarm!
It starts, drives and stops as it should, the lights all work and it even has working electric windows!
There is service history for the time it was in use, complete with old MOTs, but it has been parked up since 1997!
For a 1970's un-restored BMW, it is in very good condition for it's age, and all of the usual E12 rust areas are in great condition.
The inner wings, chassis legs, bulk head, rear suspension mounting areas, inner and outer sills are all very good.
I have photos of all of these parts, and would be happy to forward them to a prospective buyer, and any inspection is welcome.
However, with all of the good points, there are also some bad points.
The parts that will require looking at are:
Two very small areas at the very front of the floor/sill area - this is the section that was originally fitted to the body shell to allow the car to be moved around the factory during manufacture.
It also has a small section at the bottom of the right hand wing that will need a repair, but as the rest of the wing is very good, it would be a shame to replace rather than repair.
A small repair to the offside rear wheel arch, at the front where it meets the sill. This is only the outer skin, the inner arch and floor area are still very good.
The main visual problem is on the offside rear quarter panel, but this isn't structural, so wouldn't take much to repair.
A new exhaust back box will be required and it may need some brake pipes.
The interior is in very good condition, with only sun bleaching to the seats, however, the top of the rear seat has started to split due to the sun.
Any inspection is welcome and as already mentioned, I can provide a number of photos if required.
I am near Newcastle upon Tyne, so could collect a potential buyer from Newcastle Airport, or Central Station.
I'm looking for offers near £2000
