For sale is my lovely W124 260e saloon in Almandine Red with Mushroom leather interior. 119,000 miles on the car.MOT until FEB 17.
I would say the bodywork is in average/good condition. Usual stonechips and scratches, slight bubbling on front arches as is common for these. A spot on the rear arches but nothing serious. A very usable everyday classic that gets attention everywhere it goes.
Mechanically, the car is good. When I bought it, there was a whine from the engine bay which turned out to be a worn aux belt tensioner. That was replaced along with the adjuster shock, tensioner rod, pulleys, belt, water pump, thermostat and housing. Coolant system flushed and refilled. N/S window regulator system has been replaced with a new item. Reconditioned central locking motor fitted, so that works as it should. Alternator regulator has been replaced. OVP and fuel pump relays have been replaced. Bonnet soundproofing has also been done.
So lots of jobs have been done to get this back to a good condition but a few small jobs remain. Apart from the corrosion, the aerial and stereo are not working- new aerial purchased but not fitted. D/s rear window not working and there is a creak from the rear of the car. I think this is a worn bush in the rear suspension. Slight hesitance in starting sometimes but always does start. I am in the process of having the engine and transmission oil and filters changed, which should be done before it is sold. Other than that, a great everyday classic that should only go one way in value.
