Here in Portugal since I can remmenber we always got the 95 and the 98. My daily needs to run at least 90, '97 Mitsubishi Lancer 1.3 12v, but my '73 Volvo 164 3.0 Straight 6 needs to run 95. I've tried the premium 98 but can't see any diferences… I think unless I change the CR of the engine 95 is more than enough… On a side note I had a '05 Honda Hornet CBf600 and if I left the petrol in the tank for more than 2/3 months it would struggle to start...

It was about 6 degrees this morning! My gf just got back from Stanthorpe which got down to 2. And about half an hour south of her had snow.

Auto felt a bit rumbly yesterday, so I checked it when I got home and it barely registered on the dipstick... Didn't have any fluid at home, and nothing was open before I got to work, so had to take it easy. Dumped about 300ml in it, will check again in the morning when it's cold. Had to do it hot, which helped burn the oil off the exhaust. Who puts fill points directly above an exhaust??

The kind of genius who puts the alternator directly beneath the power steering pump and the distributor so far up under the inlet manifold as to be unreachable by a normal human. Maybe the same dickhead went from Toyota in the '70s to Ford Australia in the '80s.

Haha, yep. Ended up putting about 700ml give or take an amount that burnt off the exhaust. Interestingly, After dumping almost an extra half litre in it this afternoon, running temps have gone back up. I did open the rad cap to see how that was, so not sure if I upset the system there. The auto fluid does run through the rad for cooling but I can't see it making that big of a difference to the running temp of the car? Unless it was that low that it wasn't running any fluid through to the rad. Could also be a curse word earth or something on the temp sender side of things. Will see how it runs tomorrow morning when its colder. It's almost a quarter gauge worth of temp difference, though. Matt

Temp gauge went back to normal less than half again after that time. Odd. Fan was still cycling like normal though. So, here endeth the fuel economy tests. At this point I will swap the dizzy out and retune the car. Except I won't get any decent testing done for a while, because the cressida is coming off the road for a whIle. I haven't been able to do the panel work I have wanted to before painting the front, because I haven't been confident I can get everything done in a weekend before having to get back on the road. And not having a car isn't an option for me at the moment. Cue first fill shot. Courtesy of SWMBO. I've been wanting to get a camping car for a while, now. Was chatting about it the other day (Wednesday, maybe), and had a bit of a look around. Found a couple to look at, this one came with a roof top tent, which I'll move on, and a bunch of camping gear, which will likely go too. But, it gives me the option to pull the cressida off the road and get some work done at my own pace. Just got to find a welder now.. Oh look, Aldi has them on sale next week...

Nice Pathfinder mate. I love the V6 models. So, nice to cruise in. But thirsty things they are and unfortunately they only last about 1.8 million kilometers!
Have you ever tried a roof top tent? They are great. It's in winter never as cold as a normal tent and in summer never as hot as a normal tent. They are easy to set up and pack up after you get the hang of it. We had one for years and loved it!
Cheers

We had one for years and loved it! Cheers Yes, my housemates pathfinder was thirsty until he found the leak in the intake that was messing with his fueling. And then he got another almost 30% economy out of it by installing freewheeling hubs. That'll be on the cards for me too. I have slept in a roof tent before, and it's not a bad thing. But I like being in an actual tent. And we just bought one we can stand up in.. Also, those factory bars are only rated to 80kg, and that tent weighs 60kg.. I'm pretty skinny, but not that skinny! I've got good sleeping bags that join together and we like to share body warmth. I'm sure we'll manage.

Fair enough, you will get some dollars for that tent anyway and get some back on your purchase price!

That's the plan! Already got a prospective buyer and I didn't even leave the office!

Well, it's been a while.. Pathfinder is going well, couple of small things to sort (door light switch just failed, for one). But nothing major. Sold the rooftop tent and camping gear for $600! Bought a welder. Bought a new helmet to replace my nice one that got removed.. Did that ages ago. Picked up gas the other week. Started to make some progress, which I'll post up once I'm done or at least further along. Had to stop early today as my cutting disc got too small, and apparently I've misplaced the lock spanner thing for the grinder. But at least progress has started. It's been good to get back in to it. I need to go buy a new spanner thing and find my panel beating set. I'll leave you with a hint as to why.. If I can get proboards to accept my photos!

That's some thick bog.
I've also been looking at v6 patties. I'd prefer an R51 to an R50, but with my budget, I'll have to take what I can afford.
What's the economy on yours like?

Wow! That is a lot of filler! Good to see an update on the Cressy.

It's pretty easy to pick one up for around 3k. Just got to see how much sand is underneath it. Mines not amazing, about 14l/100. So same as the Cressida haha. Need to check for intake leaks still, and do the front hub swap. Great cars though. Heaps of space, comfy, and super capable.

That metal stuff under the filler's going to be really heavy. You should grind it away.
Sorry, I'll be going.

Putting a request in for some advice from @grumpynorthener (or anyone else who would like to throw their two cents in). I have cut my repair section to size, using the old wing. There was a little blob of what I thought was a rust bubble, I was going to clean it up once I had the whole wing back together.. But while tweaking the fit on the repair piece, it.. blew out more? Better take a closer look, I thinks. Oh go on then! So... my question is this: Do I cut out a bigger little square and try and patch it up? If I do it this way I can dress it back slightly shallow and use a bit of filler... Or do I cut a rectangle out all the way to the edge including the flange lip (probably using a piece of the wing I just cut off to replace). This will give me better access to the support brace, so I can make sure it is clean and good. But I think will be harder to make the repair invisible-er. *Edit* Forgot to add the pic of the rear side and brace. It IS pretty close to the bottom of the wing and won't be super visible. There's also a moulding just above it so that will help hide it some. I could even cut it a bit higher so that one edge of the repair is under the moulding, which is what I'm doing for the wing repair section. Thoughts? Cheers, Matt

You need to buy filler rod for your welder..🤣🤣 Oh, and take a plastering course at your local technical college. Seeing everything is bigger in Australia, can you buy filler in 44 gallon tins ? Looks like the previous owner only used one tin.😂😂😂
You got bush fires near you or is that all higher up?
