W210 E55 AMG Saloon.
Let's get this out of the way first, as it's usually the problem with W210s... This car is not the usual rust bucket. W210s suffered terribly from tin worm. Cars seem to have either literally disappeared into piles of brown dust or held up very well. There seems no middle ground. Thankfully this car is one of the later. It had an expensive paint protection treatment from the factory, and still wears the sticker proudly proclaiming so on the driver's door shut. Maybe that's the secret; I really don't know?
165k miles with superb history, massive file of receipts, previous MOT certificates, full original Mercedes-Benz bound book pack, service book and all other records.
MOT to Jan 2017
HPI clear and log book present.
Colour: 'Green-Black'. Essentially it's black, but with a metallic fleck that shows as anything from emerald green to deep purple depending on the light that catches it. It's a fantastic colour.
The car has been maintained fastidiously with genuine Mercedes parts. Recent work including discs and pads all round, rear wheel bearings, transmission oil cooler, new style key, re-conditioned transmission. Receipts on file for all of this work.
Full AMG specification including staggered 18" AMG Monoblock alloy wheels, twin exhaust, deeper bumpers and skirts, the best part being the M113 engine; 5.4L with a power output of 349 hp / 391 ft·lbf (530 Nm) of torque. The engine is chain driven and very reliable.
The car has been improved sympathetically to make it slightly more focused and better to drive. I feel this has been done in a way that does not detract from what is now becoming considered to be a modern classic but enhances AMG's offering.
It has H&R springs, Bilstein dampers, and an optimised suspension geometry alignment to capitalise on the improved suspension configuration. The car is more focused than a standard E55 should you want to enjoy the chassis, but the ride and comfort are not compromised. It's more nimble than it has any right to be.
The secondary cats and central resonator have been removed from the exhaust. These allow the engine to breathe more freely and also open up the vocal repertoire. Subdued from the factory; the V8 burble is now audible. However, on the move the exhaust never becomes intrusive. The ECU has also been modified to remove the speed limiter. It happily pulls off the speedo (on the autobahn) with lots in reserve.
Recently fitted Pioneer stereo with streaming iPhone / Android audio and handsfree telephone (fitted this week after I took the pics).
The condition of the car is very good. Whilst not pristine, eg stone chips from motorway miles on the front bumper, when polished it still looks excellent.
Spec is very generous:
Dual zone climate control
Two tone leather
Cruise Control
Parking sensors
Tracker (would need activating by new owner to continue)
Heated / folding mirrors
Heated seats
Driver and passenger memory seat
Electrically adjustable and memory steering wheel
A bargain V8 super-saloon that is starting to rise in value.
