The long hours fabricating the edges of everything the other day, paid off today. I mounted the grill, both front wings AND the radiator! I also cut the two front wheel arches. I made another template so all four arches will be the same. I also have a grill template because all these International trucks in this part of the country are gone in the same spots. Wheel arch is looking good. Love it.

You should start taking orders for these, clearly you've got this build formula down to an art form. Top work. Chris. I get the feeling with templates being retained that there may well be a few more "International Harvester Grenades" out there soon enough. And as Craig says, arch looks right too.

I know it's too late for the first one but have you thought about getting little numbered plaques made for each truck you make?
"International Harvester Grenade 001" etc
Then rivet it onto chassis somewhere in the engine bay?

I think you should get your hand on a few of these pins and make it a point to integrate them into the build.

Thanks guys, the whole thing will be done and sure- there will be spots that aren't so great, then there will spots that are fantastic. The really fantastic part? I want it to be in the way it rides, runs and drives. The sound, the driver experience. We'll cross our fingers and see how that turns out soon enough! I have a Grenade sitting right here on my desk. It's hollow, but it was an actual issued grenade. Too cliché to make a grenade shifter knob. Maybe a little airbrushed grenade or something on the next one. These things will be like snowflakes, no two will be exactly alike, but they'll all be as cool as snow... Wow, that wasn't funny at all

I was thinking more like a pin that you would have to say pull out of a socket in the dash so that the truck would run.

template everything!....I use templates all the time when making multiple scale models for people and refer back to notes and templates for the stuff that can be the same....
The fender arches look awesome...nice curve and distance from the tire. the welding is really cool....great shapes and tonal differences....will you leave any of it exposed or reuse your rust patina?....that would look cool.
I don't think the grenade is too cliche....might be great fun to integrate it in somewhere...cut one in half and mount them in a cool place....
really coming together nicely...

Bad intelligence. Very bad intelligence...
I'd suggest a some sort of grenade monogram (one of the first 4 Google images results for 'hand grenade stencil' perhaps) sprayed on the truck somewhere and then suitably 'weathered' to make it look like it's been there a while.

Items left to do: Wiper blades, the arms already work Exhaust Lights Engine bay; air cleaner, mount ECU, mount fuse boxes & connect heater core. Oh yeah- add a fan. Cut up back bed and section it, fabricate and mount the sides, hang rear fenders and cut back wheel arches. The interior is fine. It's not a show truck, but this one is much nicer than the last body dropped truck I did. It's really comfortable and the heat works with the factory controls. To make the aircon work, I have to somehow fit the condenser & receiver dryer in the bay and have 6 lines made. It's a bit of an expensive fuss, that is waiting until the end, I might just pass that job on to the new owner. The AC compressor is on the engine and the AC coil is under the dash in the heater fan box. Same as before, tilt, cruise, 4x4, power steering, power brakes. This time it has traction control. The donor truck was ordered with traction control, so it stays. There is a "FUN" button, in case you want to turn it off. It has 4x4 Hi and Lo settings too. The power outlet is also working, to charge your phone- there are two of those. I'm not doing a radio.

These are available, custom made. My mate Martin ordered one for one of our friends in Oklahoma. I still love your builds, and if my life was not as screwed up as it is right now, I would actually yog out the cash to have that on my drive.

Damn if that interior didnt come together for ya!...(you had the vision all the time, right?) awww, forget the grenade, unless you use it as a signature or logo for yourself...that might be cool...then just place a small one somewhere, even hidden from plain sight...computer cut vinyl is readily available and can be almost any size you want. (yes I can make them...pm me) If the new owner wants to send the truck out for a 10,000.00 interior, then why not, right? all the power to him/her cant wait to see the bed sectioned and in place...that should be done tomorrow by your standards! I was able to get the seat belts installed today. NICE. I'm waiting on a bunch of small parts to turn up before I finalize the engine bay and get started on the back bed.

Turns out, the guy that bought my last truck? He has over 5,000 miles on it and wants more of them. He took a trophy at a car show with it. Details on that phone conversation later....

Turns out, the guy that bought my last truck? He has over 5,000 miles on it and wants more of them. He took a trophy at a car show with it. Details on that phone conversation later.... Of course he does! You can be assured, and some on here have mentioned this already, that if you were building these here or we were on your side of the pond, you'd have a lot of customers queuing up for one. We know how good you are at building these - 'cos we've seen it. I've turned my hobby into a business, I now source and sell classics for a living - it's likely that you'll be turning your own hobby into a real business too. He doesn't want more trucks because he likes you - although I'm sure you're a lovely bloke and he does! - no, it's because you are good at what you do. Keep up the great work man. It's a pleasure to follow your threads. CFD
