AAaaand yep- that sun visor is made of wood. I had one from the donor vehicle but I struggled with it and there may have been a "hammer incident" hahaha Trust me... It's all going to be OK. Never mind the goofy guy at the wheel... Remember, it was SUPPOSED to be a rat rod... I don't know what happened! Damn internet and TV shows!

Looks better covered. Maybe some custom seat covers would give that rat rod feel. Too much grey in the cab.
just my two cents.

Other than fitting the heating controls, that's it. This thing isn't about a custom interior. It's about the fact that it is a 4x4 modern fuel injected 5.7L Hemi powered toy with a vintage body on it. I just wanted to be able to bolt in seats rather than go through the several days of work to make the floor pan and then rebuild the bottoms of the rear seats to make them work. That took several long days. This was easier, but it presented it's own set of challenges. I have a plan in mind for the next one. It will be legal in all 50 states with seat belts, turn signals, windshield wipers, horn and catalytic converters. I'm planning my little half sprocket welded to the bonnet and probably pipes out the side again. That way, no matter where they end up, you'll always know it was one of my builds. I am planning to do more of these. It's all fun anyway. A few small dollars at the end for your parts & labor is all it is. Paid hobby

If you had space behind it, then cutting the dash and dropping the dials down and back would leave you able to make less surround for them? A less obvious compromise that to the eye might look neater??

Oh yeah, that guy is "of the same cloth" as we say. Great ideas produce things.

I like where you landed with the stance. Looking at this picture of the first struck, I read $19,000 and a phone number right below it. Cant make out what is written above. Ooh you're right! Guess what... the price of my current truck? JUST WENT UP hahaha I had a boss years ago that every time something would change about the sale, he would say in a thick Hebrew accent "The price just went up" lol That dude was awesome. 19k... Yeah, he paid a lot less than that. Good to know where I stand on the next one, which will be a much better truck. That made my day right there... A similar idea, built on Chevy C10 chassis, currently on eBay, ending in a bit over a day, currently bid to $5,950.... with reserve not met: www.ebay.com/itm/152111001591?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITYou have lots of room when pricing out version II....

That is a very solid truck to start with. I like the ones that are solid. You do not find solid trucks up here in the North east USA. Everything has rust holes in it. I don't mind the rust, you simply chop it out. The trouble with this truck above? It's on an OLD chevy chassis, 2WD. He says 1997 but I guarantee you that's a 1977 or thereabouts. They were fuel injected in 97 and that steering column was used from about 72-82 ish. A 30 year old (even 20+) carbureted 2 wheel drive? Nah- that doesn't excite me in the least. Also, they got to use a short bed truck. I can't use short beds. I use the long bed versions because of the Hemi chassis. I section the bed rather than trying to match a wheelbase to a chassis. I believe my build is in a slightly different category with it's modern running gear. BUT- COOL truck none the less!

One full day on the front wings and the grill. There wasn't much left of the hinges, the flanges that mount them to the cab or the front edge that secures them together. I had to fabricate all the pieces to make these solid again. You look at it and say "That won't take too long". Yeah.... shiiiiittt

This one has less square footage to patch than the last one, but I only had to rebuild one hinge on the last one, this one was two. The last one had solid fenders on top, but the bottom skirts were rusted out. This one, the top mounting edges were gone, but the skirts are much better. Patching areas that are mostly flat, goes quickly. Problem with this front end, is that all of the flanges and folded edges, you know- the hard stuff- that's what I had to rebuild. Hopefully today's job won't take too long and I can get back home and mount the front end. I have a plan for the wheel arches this time...

Do you own a shrinker/stretcher tool for doing the tin? I would give up the English wheel before those two tools for doing tinwork.

God I need one of these. Love the patching. Already earmarked an old American pick- up/merc turbodiesel conversion for my next project once the John Deere ‘G’ is finished…

The long hours fabricating the edges of everything the other day, paid off today. I mounted the grill, both front wings AND the radiator! I also cut the two front wheel arches. I made another template so all four arches will be the same. I also have a grill template because all these International trucks in this part of the country are gone in the same spots. Once I make a battery tray, this thing is turn key, starts on the button ready. I mean, I still have the heater core, the Aircon (IF I can get it to fit) the controls for the heat, mount the fan, start sectioning the rear truck bed, the exhaust, the seat belt mounts etc etc

You should start taking orders for these, clearly you've got this build formula down to an art form.
Top work.
