My name is Ivo. I live in Sofia, Bulgaria and I'm completely noob to the RR board. I'd like to share my work and ideas with you. So far I have posted on the motorgeek.com board but it seems there is not so much of interest. I found this board occasionally last night and my impression is that this could be the right place/home for my project thread. Let me start with the pics though since my basic english is not the best (I think) I can. Please be patient, prepare for a picture heavy thread and do critique everything you think is wrong or could be done in a better way. I'll statrt slowly with the oldest pictures from the beginning, 6 years ago:
An old and nasty 1993 VW Golf VR6 engine, pulled out form an Italian scrap yard
The plan was to couple it with a transformed to RWD Audi Quattro gearbox so this is the aluminium OEM adaptor plate attached to the engine.
The starter motor is OEM from VR5 engine in Passat:
Here is the sponsored 01E gearbox with damaged front pinion:
here is the choosen FW from 7A audi engine:
A good man manufactured and sponsored me an OEM look engine stand :
The front diff is out. It wont be needed anymore:
My idea for FW adapter between the 10 hole VR6 cramkshaft and 8 hole Audi 5cyl FW:
The lightened from 13kg FW:
My choise was a Volvo 940 TD rear diff, 3.54 ratio and Etaton Locker inside:
...some work and refreshing on the peripherials:
... a diff locker:
..... just joking
Here is one very expensive bearing which was worn. My lathe man? grinded inside the outer shell and a cheaper standard size bearing was pressed inside:
The showed modified bearing is number 1. Number 2 was damaged and both together withthe long shafted pinion were ditched as useless for the RWD set up:
The secondary hollow shaft (inside was the front pinion):
This is the Torsen middle diff. I had to disassemble it because I had plans for its substitute based on his parts:

The crankshaft journals looked almost like new:

The promised Torsen diff substitute compared to another OEM part:
The first parts for the EFI system purchased from USA:
Until the parts waiting I started to plan other things:
Someone has probably mentioned that something HUGE is still missing!?
Yes, the LADA shell is still not available! Just looking for the right one.

I was short on funds so decided to go with a chinese turbo just for the beginning so I could work on the manifolds and etc..
New valves with increased diameter:
Refreshing, check an repai of the oil pump:

The new piston cooling oil squirters with built in 2bar valves:
