Hiya,
I've had this Mini for just over three years now. Its been genuinely fantastic, great fun, very reliable. I bought it at 48k, its now approaching 80k. Its been used as my daily in that time, and its been maintained as such. I should think I've spent at least £1,500 on it in these three years. It has a full service history going back to 1999, documenting regular oil changes and what have you. I'm just the third owner. The first owner seems to have owned it for a couple of years in Reading, then it was owned by an elderly lady in Oxford, I bought it from her widower.
The car seemed in pretty good nick when I bought it, immaculate interior, good, well maintained mechanicals, body a tiny bit scruffy at the edges, but overall good.
In my time, the body did get a bit worse, probably partly because of its use throughout the winter, but also I think I just uncovered things that were well hidden. I have begun tackling these problems, but I simply don't have the funds to complete it in the time frame I would like. I'm not skilled enough to do it myself either.
Issues:
I did a raft of repairs late last year, including both sills and a portion of the o/s floor. The underside of the car is now in great nick, done by a first rate welder who used to work for ProDrive and race Minis, no oversills or anything like that. Unfortunately I have yet to paint the two areas where the repairs went up on the the 3/4 panels at the bottom, on both sides. This is far larger on the o/s side (both pictured) they currently remain in primer (well actually, its not quite primer, I think he called it 'chemical metal' or something - its not my area of expertise). But anyway, it needs to painted, sooner rather than later
There is some corrosion on the windscreen frame, right at the base in the middle. This lets in water, so I have used some sealant to block this, its barely noticeable to be fair, so is not urgent, but not perfect obviously. I bought the car like this and it hasn't got any worse.
Both A panels have some corrosion. Much worse on the o/s, a big blister was there when I bought the car, recently been covered in a resistant primer with the last lot of repairs, just to stop it getting worse in anticipation of repair. The other side has just lost a little bit of metal at the very bottom corner, rest of the panel solid.
Very small amounts of corrosion under the headlights, typical stuff, could definitely just be tidied up, no need for new metal any time soon.
Three small dents in the roof. The car was sat on by a curse word student in Oxford while the car was parked. The main dent popped out, but where the concave began on either side, there are still small depressions. The paint isn't damaged at all, I'm sure they could be sucked out or whatever. I've just been prioritising the corrosion work for now, so haven't got round to fixing these (pictured).
There is a very small chip in the windscreen on the passenger side. I've had this repaired professionally and will never get worse, but the stone must have been fairly large as a full repair wasn't possible.
Mechanically, the car is still running really well. Its had lots of maintenance, all four tires are fairly new, and the MOT goes until August or September. The interior has a couple of marks, the drivers footwell has got a little grubby, but its otherwise very good. Its the cream leather/houndstooth cloth set up, I'll get some pictures this weekend.
I think with just some of the issues I have mentioned fixed, the car could be worth 3 grand plus. Therefore I'm asking for £2,000, as I think that's a good deal for a car in decent nick but needing some work.
