This car has been my daily driver for the last 16 months and will be available in roughly 4 weeks, once my BMW is built up and roadworthy. Until then, I am happy to answer questions, discuss offers, allow test drives/inspections etc.
Engine
1z TDi - Rebuilt when fitted to the car by previous owner (Roughly 90k ago)
MTDi conversion using Landrover 300tdi pump
Governor shimmed for higher RPM limit
0.216 Injector Nozzles
Garrett T3 turbo with custom exhaust (over gearbox and out of front valance)
Large FMIC
PD inlet manifold
02J gear selector upgrade in 02A gearbox
Induction cone
Battery relocated to boot
DBW pedal box for hydro clutch
Brakes
Front 256mm calipers with new discs/pads last year
Rear mk4 golf calipers with new discs pads last month
Goodridge braided front hoses
Custom made braided rear hoses
Suspension/steering
New coilovers fitted 12 months ago
Polybushed rear axle (previous owner)
Front suspension overhaul including top mounts, wishbones, track rod ends, arb bushes etc done last year
Rear wheel bearings/stub axles fitted last month
Both driveshafts replaced last month
Used power steering pump/rack/pipes fitted last year
Interior
Early GTi seats and door cards in overall good condition
Momo steering wheel
Rare GTD clocks with working rev counter (needs calibrating to be 100%)
Decent USB/CD/Aux headunit with front component speakers
Some trim bits missing, kick strips inside doors, few empty dash button holes, one fan blower missing, nothing troubling.
Body
Resprayed by previous owner
Lots of smoothed/deleted parts, including side repeaters, rear wiper, rear badges etc.
Crystal front headlights
HID conversion 35w 5000k
Trimmed duckbill style front splitter
Standard steel wheels 14x6 with 185/60 rears and brand new 195/45 fronts
Negative points
Some bodywork lets the car down, few small surface rust spots, small patches of paint bubbling, rough filler repair on one rear arch, stone chips on the front valance. This is the worst part of the car in my opinion and the only reason I haven't repaired it is because I do 25k+ a year, bodywork is so hard to keep on top of and I'm not competent enough to complete the repairs myself.
Interior bits missing as mentioned above
MOT advisory in January for some light corrosion on sills, If I kept the car I would spend a day with the welder and just patch up the few small holes and waxoyl the whole underside. Sills DO NOT need replacing, it is mostly solid - I'm just being honest.
Wheels currently fitted and included in the sale are nothing special at all, pictures below show how it can look with something shiny fitted.
Mileage is not really known as the clocks were changed to mk3 ones when the previous owner did the TDi conversion, changed to GTi clocks when I didn the MTDi conversion and then changed to mk2 GTD clocks when I bought them a few months ago. What is most important in my eyes in the shell condition (mentioned above, not bad) and the engine condition (rebuilt by previous owner and runs very well, good power etc.)
Drivers door has been replaced and colour is not a perfect match
Comes with 5 slat single headlight grille not 7 slat pictured
Overall, the car is ready to be driven and enjoyed. All of the negative points are fairly easy to rectify and not at all urgent. The car is surprisingly powerful, I'd estimate 150hp, it handles really well and stops brilliantly. It does exactly what I wanted it to do which is return 60mpg+ for my commute and still put a massive smile on my face down the back roads. Test drives or passenger rides are encouraged, feel free to contact me with any questions.
