First of all I know this isn't really retro , but hey it's a luxury old barge! A good mate spotted this down in Southampton at salvage market and called me saying he knew I liked old s&&t! And would I like it? 3 owners and 90,000 on the clock we won it at auction for £130.... So my mate Andy trailered it to my place and over the weekend I set about cleaning it up and assessing what I'd bought, the old girl is very very clean and tidy no rust no damage the only things needed are a new glove box which has been forced open and the radiator has a leak, Great interior and unkerbed wheels are a plus too Well chuffed with it I've never owned a Vauxhall before quite impressed with the build quality Going to use it whilst my E300 gets a makeover, again sorry for the unretroness but they seem To be rare in nice condition so thought I'd share it here !

I love these, my dad had a white pre-face a good 15 years ago now. Was only a 2.0 but was reliable as anything else around at the time, clocked 70k in 3 years only needing a clutch and water pump. Very fond memories, especially of the comfort. Top buy!

Plans are just clean and use it!, although my boy has looked at lowering springs and wheels for it!! So maybe watch this space, like the idea of polished omega elite wheels and low

Got a few jobs done on this, fitted a new handbrake gaiter,a new roof aerial as this as missing, cleaned the interior up a bit more, plugged in the computer and extinguished the engine management light, showed no faults so will see if it returns when I start using it,new rad arrived today along with a set of plugs, new number plates ordered , just need to pick up oil and filter, then find time to get this little lot done!

I know these are great value, but only £130 for one as tidy as this is truly unbelievable!! I reckon your George has got a point on lowering it though, they do sit a bit high as standard. I like the current wheels, a bit of a drop and a clean up and this will be a very nice example. Excellent purchase, get some more pics up.

This old thing is fighting me all the way! , Replaced the leaky rad done various other small jobs then take it for a run near my house and it throws a wobbly! Gearbox only in 3rd and a misfire at idle Take off throttle body clean replace plugs check water oil etc, all fine runs great then gets up to temperature and the gearbox plays up again, gonna go around to my mates and plug it in and see what faults come up I suspect a camshaft sensor? Still well impressed with the old bus she Cleans up lovely and that interior is very comfy!

I didn't take the advice and thought I'd try an eBay buy pattern part sensor Bad idea car runs even rougher and won't idle, I've stripped it out again and have a GM part arriving to fit Another lesson learned! At the tender age of 47 I should of learned by now! But at least my son has learnt another job, we stripped it back out in about 5 minutes last night

GM cam sensor fitted, problem still persists, plugged In again today by my good mate Andy, we're sure it's the Coilpack so I've bit the bullet and bought a new one, will see when that arrives, this car is a challenge! Too modern to many electrical gubbins

P1781 is engine torque signal circuit apparently. Coil codes are usually but not limited to p03xx codes.

This car has given me the right hump! Brand new coil pack and a new gm cam sensor and new crank sensor ,all to no avail now found out it's the ECU,was told by the experts these don't fail, mine has and at £100 I just can't be bothered it's sat on the drive looking sorry for itself, the first £200 buys it with mot until October, and a surberb body, no rust or dents!............
