Okay its not retro its on my Mk3 Golf,.. but...
I've got an internal aerial for my car seeing as some scrote snapped off the external one. The big black aerial lead is plugged into the radio, but there is another red lead of equal length and I have no idea where it goes.
Any ideas,.. I know its vague but someone must have come across this before?
(Bloody car wiring,....)

Is it for providing some kind of earthing? - although why you'd really need this if it's internal fitment.... Did they not give you any instructions? Normally, if you were to replace the existing one, you'd have a wire to it from the radio (signal) and one coming off it somewhere (usually a copper one with a hook & screw fixing) that mounts to a bit of the bodywork. The stops your stereo (and you) soaking up 120,000 kV if your ariel is hit by lightening. I think.

i could be wrong but it sounds to me like a power supply lead for the aerial amplifier

Ministrone is spot on, I did the same job on my old Mk3 Golf and hooked it up to a 12v supply. Reception is not the best Hotwire, but it's better than worrying about your aerial being snapped off.
