Sorry I didn't reply with the measurement of my shocks. But you have come to the conclusion anyway.
Instead of threading the struts longer just get shorter springs. The shocks will be bottoming out soon!
If I was you I would have a little research into s14 front hubs on acty been done in Japan, or import some later model hubs.

P.s. take the spring out and just have the shock in place with wheel on etc. Use a Jack under the wheel and lift - will give you a instant answer if the shocks will have enough travel

Another option is to get 8mm bored out of the hub that the strut drops into.

I've got the full history of the acty from the dvla so I can do some digging A quick google has given me an aerial shot of the original trader, Boston Motor Company, Hyde, Cheshire, photo taken in 1981 when it was built in place of the Ritz. It's now an Iceland and dealer no longer exists. Next step to trace through the previous owners to see if it did anything interesting in its life. At least with that aerial shot I can use the logo / font as a basis for reg plates / tax disc holder / dealer sticker.

The acty's first home ... From April 1985. Not sure how long for because the owner moved house at some point before selling it in 1992.

The Acty's second home in Astley, Manchester. Original owner so again some point between 1985 and 1992. Nicely the house is still looking pretty original in the street view photo.

In May 1992 the Acty was 7 years old and moved 240 miles South East to it's second owner at this house in Colchester.

A year later the Acty moved again in April 1993 to this detached bungalow in Stanway, Colchester where it stayed until June 2001. Again a pretty original house only let down in this photo by a more modern punto.

Between December 2001 and March 2009 the Acty lived here, at a farm house in Halstead, also a Colchester Post Code. Possibly the first obvious signs of it actually earning it's keep. And in the street view photo there's actually a microvan which I originally thought was the Acty but it looks like the rear window is narrower on that van so maybe it's replacement?

By 2009 at 24 years old the Acty had obviously reached a "cheap and disposable" stage and suddenly started changing owners at a regular rate. Bizarrely it moved another 220 miles back up to the North West - this time in Bolton. It was only taxed at this address for 3 months between September 2009 and January 2010.

I think it's fair to say that the Acty was a "toy" when it lived at this house in Bolton for two years between 2010 and 2012.

Gaz shocks fitted without any springs and still not low enough. I think it will be the same case with the standard shocks without springs so changing the spring position on those won't help either.

Is it not a bolt on swap to the Rascal (or whatever the shocks fit) hubs? Who knows? they're not even a bolt-on swap to the Acty that's 3 years newer. I thought the rascal was based on the suzuki supercarry rather than the acty. unless the suzuki is based on the acty too. I think the safest is to base any mods on the standard shocks that I have and know that fit.

Well sorry to hear yours are wrong , I will buy them from you if there no good to you It turns out I will need to get new struts made so if you want to measure up your rascal struts to see whether these will do the job and make me an offer let me know. Cheers

Sighthill Walk - I reckon the houses were pretty much brand new when the van was bought too. Maybe they had a win on the pools or premium bonds

They look familiar that's why I ask, that's about 10-15 mins away from me.
