All good posts start with a box... Which when opened unveil two more boxes... Let the boxes see the truck ... Rear struts ... Front Spring / strut setup ... Just in time for a week on my own while Mrs Minty goes on holiday, now all I need is some dry evenings / weekend!

Out of curiosity, how much were the coil overs, if you don't mind me asking? I'm trying to decide how to drop the Cressida. Coil overs would obviously be the cheaper option (compared to bags), but bags would be a lot cooler.

Coil overs would obviously be the cheaper option (compared to bags), but bags would be a lot cooler. £450 for this setup so would be about the same if you have leafs on the rear or more if you'll need coils for the rear too. (Or you'd have to get the leaf springs decambered too) For air you're looking at least 3-4 times more than that depending on setup.

Are you sure the coilovers will fit your model. Yours being drums on front and the coil overs designed for disk brake acty. I have not seen a drum brake hub.

Ben Yes I checked my standard struts and the workshop manual diagrams with the photos of your gaz ones beforehand - the bottom ends are tubular that drop into a C clamp.

Loving this. I always wanted a Suzuki Carry. A garage around the corner when I was a kid had a pick up Suzuki with gas bottles in the back. I loved it. Long gone now I think.

Ben Turns out there is a difference after all! The diamater of the base of the gaz strut is 50mm compared to 42mm on my OE strut. muffy do you remember if yours were 50mm and if they slotted straight in? Just wondering if it's a difference between the Acty models or if my gaz strut is different to yours? Just when everything was going well and I'd removed everything without any problems! Cheers

Love your acty btw Cheers Wayne I got them from gaz shocks - they make custom coilovers for any car. To guarantee fitment it's best to send a front strut and rear strut to them so they can base measurements on the standard. As I've just found it!

Ethan (3yo) asked this morning if the van actually moves. Good observation skills if not very subtle. I best get cracking to prove him wrong!

the fun continues... I had reducer tubes made up for the 50mm OD front struts to drop into the 42mm ID C clamp brackets on the hub. Worked a treat, fitted the strut last night, all fitted, dropped it on the floor. No lower. Well 13mm lower but not enough lower for my needs! The additional length of the strut now the reducers are on takes out any new lows out of the equation. I've contacted gaz and it would be a whole new strut that needs to be built and being 42mm brings it's own complications. So next plan is to get a machine shop to extend the spring perch thread 50mm further down the body so I can adjust them more. Failing that i'm investigating mk1 golf struts
