Some side panels and a rear valance would help too but might mess with its proportions in a bad way. Looks good so far, mind. Not sure if I already mentioned that further back but lower side panels are in the plans too - originally I was going to half cover the rear wheel but they stick out slightly too much for that so they'll follow same lines as existing side panels but approx 2" deeper.

You did mention it but I forgot when I posted. No worries I've changed my mind about various aspects so many times now I can't remember where I've mentioned things myself

Despite post above it turns out they didn't fit and the strut popped out the C clamp when I steered! Still I've found a friendly local machine shop who have milled off 0.5mm for £30 and now they do fit! Well driver side does, passenger side will hopefully done next week by a garage who can tackle a rusty bolt!

Looking like yo are still looking after my little BAKKIE well. It went a bit downhill since I bought it in full working order but you have to expect that when you want to make changes, especially when you have to go down the custom route rather than bolt-on mods! But hopefully things are on the up again now and I can just get back to driving it! (Until I come to sort the rear lead springs in a month or so!)

I knew the battery had ran flat over the past couple of months so connected the charger up when I got back from work this evening and she fired up just from it being connected. I left it on charge for a couple of hours and then took it out for some petrol ready for the trip to the garage to get the rusty bolt sorted tomorrow. Started fine going to and leaving the petrol station and then I popped to the shop to get butter and some chips. First time off the drive for a while! Went over a couple of holes and despite being so low and no gap between tyre and wheel arch it didn't feel harsh at all - I'm glad I stuck with 10" wheels I just can't wait until the other side is low too so I can get on enjoying it! Oh and then I'll need to take it off the road again to lower the rear!

10" wheels plus just the right amount of low there. It's stupidly adorable.

A 26 mile round trip full of smiles today with a few wheel spins and 3 wheelin' around roundabouts on the way to the garage. The garage used turbo sockets and heat and hammers and levers and pretty much everything in the magic box but in the end the old bolt had to be drilled right through with a new bolt and a nut on the end rather than into the threaded c clamp. And the outcome... (Side panel removed for battery access) Big smiles The rear wheels are being made and I'll try and find a spare set of rear leaf springs to be decambered rather than get mine done so there's no time off the road in between.

I removed the mk1 front splitter today to try and replace it with a VR6 splitter for the reason that it wraps around the sides under the doors so the lowness follows around rather than just from a head on perspective.... Before Advantage of the vr6 splitter - Half and half I cut it all nicely with the (maplin own brand) dremel And it was all going well but I just couldn't get the sides to twist around enough to stay in place. Think I may need to fix them to the door bottoms and cut a line down in line with the door opening so decided to leave that for another day. So now I'm splitterless, think I'll have another look in the daylight but it does look more natural now with the curve under valance rather than the pointy chin.

There is a company in Sheffield/Rotherham that make leaf springs. They can do new decambered springs to order and when I enquired for my hilux they were only about £220 for a pair.
Looks great btw.

Think it looks more unassuming and less try-hard without the lip and will definitely be more speed bump friendly!
