I’ve been quiet, mainly down to using spare time to do on line Christmas shopping, it was my birthday last week though on which I book the day off and we decided if it was dry we’d head down to caffeine and machine,100 mile round trip so a nice journey length for the truck, dry it was and perfect for a crisp sunny drive there and back. I filled up on the driveway with two 5 litre refill tanks - Still yet to sort filler neck leak but an alloy tank will be made up after Christmas. Ate nice food, bought a lumberjack shirt, drove into the woods, got in trouble as it’s supposed to be closed to cars in winter, took some more photos before I moved it... We headed home, Mrs Minty somehow falling asleep on the return journey, either the truck is very smooth and comfortable or she was very tired, we only missed the school pickup time by ten minutes.

On Friday I also had the first leisure time on a proper PC for ages and made a good quality line drawing of the Acty, which is available on loads of products at freshandminty.redbubble.comBit of a shame they don’t have any brown clothes items though.

Sootys van was parked near me in Frimley for years n years. Just opposite Frimley Lodge Park. Hope someone saves it properly Good to hear, don’t suppose you ever took any photos? Hoping the new owner hasn’t taken on too much and gets it as original spec. I know I would have done, just with added lows!! afraid not. It was back in the days before camera phones etc.

Not much has been going on since December but not long after the original sooty van surfaced a vintage puppet popped up in my radar so that’s now in my van along with a few rear window stickers... I also sorted out all my Acty spares and sold on what I didn’t and hopefully pretty certain I won’t need to another Acty owner... Amongst the sorting out I found a pair of front lower clusters from the Acty earlier than mine - I didn’t even know these were in one of the boxes of spares that I bought back in February 2017... Hopefully they will find their way to an owner of an early Acty soon.

And in today’s post I received this cool little wooden air freshener that you top up the scent with scented oil. I won an instagram giveaway before Christmas which is the main thing that finally made me get around to doing the line art image...

Very nice - even if, at first glance, I thought they were called FishSlabs!

I mentioned back up there somewhere that one of the issues I had after relocating the fuel cap to in the bed was that the connecting hose was a little bit squished too much and wasn’t forming a tight seal around the remaining neck of the standard tank so I have decided to swap the tank for an alloy one which will be located under the bed just in front of the rear panel. ARF helped me out a lot with what I needed and have produced it to spec and in line with their ETA. I’ve just picked this little beauty up from the parcel shop... It came with a pair of straps too so hopefully all will be well drilling into the bed and ill be able to get her fitted up all fine! I was interested to read the recent thread on here about fuel hose lengths, mine will actually be shorter than the original ones but will see what people think about whether to go with a partial alloy pipe and partial hose at the carb end.

I want this Acty so much it hurts. Wanted one for years and this has been modified to perfection in my eyes. If you ever got so crazy you wanted to sell it let me know!

Really appreciate your comments and as you suspect there's nothing i'd want to replace it with as a microtruck / van was always on my desire list for 20 years. Add to that I've invested far too much in this to ever get it back so that needs to be far back in distant memory before i even contemplate moving on to vehicles new.

Cardboard template of the tank made... Measured up location of where the tank could go, using the edge of the rear drainage holes as a handy marker visible from below and above. Below... Above... Template lined up so the rear edge is 30mm away from each drainage hole and the location of the fuel filler centralised to the width of the recess between the ridges so that the outlets line up to where the fuel hose needs to go to get to the carb... I marked the centre point of the fuel filler hole through the cardboard and went off to find my step drill ... ... ... .... ... But didn’t find it It’s probably having a party with tea spoons and biros and 10mm sockets in the place they all get to...

I picked the step drill up from Argos at lunch time (eBay click and collect rather than an Argos purchase) Easy on the drill and water cooling courtesy of a spray bottle and hole cutting went along nicely, bar it getting stuck a few times during the process - never drastically enough to through the drill out of my and though. Test fit to check neck fits through and cap screws all the way... And just held in position lightly supported by the trolley jack... Water dabbed up with tissue and metal shards (can’t remember the proper word right now?) vaccumed up... I’ll measure up the fixing straps and drill holes for those next time I have truck time. Once it’s fixed securely in place I can remove the pump and filter and breather pipe from the standard tank setup and secure them in place and connect to the tank.
