I’ve been going through the usual process that I do with new cars, firstly I found a majorette model albeit in the wrong colour so nail varnish purchased...
(Curses I’ve deleted the photo off my phone so I’ll take another later)
I bought a pack of brochure and spec / price list for my cactus folder and just to see what options were available at the time of release...
Which led to me ordering a pair of bumper accents to bring colour to the otherwise black lower band ...
... I think I’ll paint them mint before fitting. I don’t like how the lower black accents visually raise the car so these will combat that on the front and rear end without the need to remove and get painted the whole lower bumper sections.
The front one is in the post as I originally ordered the wrong part due to an incorrect part number on an eBay listing which didn’t have a photo. I thought it was a bargain but obviously too much of one! Still I got free return postage due to seller error.
The cactus didn’t come with mats and the carpet was immaculate so wanted to preserve that with a simple plain black set, £11.90 including P&P off eBay. You can buy official Citroen ones with the air bumps lozenge shapes stitched in , very classy, but they’re £70.
Rusty sniffed and licked the plastic clip while I tried to photograph them...
Then he had a stretch...
And I fitted them...
We’ve had hard frosts and snow sprinkles this week...
But the only outing for the cactus has been Friday night’s 1 mile chippy run due to lockdown 3.0 I’m back with this view from my box room desk each day...
Not being in the office for the foreseeable will hopefully give me chance to fit the coilovers without fear of being left carless for the commute, so I rubbed off the dirt from the standard strut part number labels as I needed to confirm the diameter of the strut - they come in 47mm or 51mm variants.
I placed my order from the manufacturer in Germany only to find I needed to generate a customs code on the government portal thanks to being 5 days into brexit. That was actually less hassle than I thought but I wonder how long they’ll be in transit for and if I’ll have to pay U.K. VAT on top of the German VAT I’ve already paid? The other worry is that i see DPD are no longer shipping cross channel so hopefully they used a courier who still are.
Only other thing to report is that I found a photo of a car with the same wheel / tyre fitment that i envisage on the cactus, 195/70/14 on 14x7 wheels. Chunky Monkey...
