Ok looking for help or advice My son took his Honda civic for a Spainish ITV - MOT during the week. FAILED 5.5cm too low (Passed last year no probs?) It sits on Type R suspension and 15¨alloys with low profiles So need it up 5.5cm Any suggestions without changing the suspension please. Quick fix Do you think 14¨Stock wheels with big sidewalls would give it enough if any lift??? Unload the sub and spare wheel? Stock 15¨might rub:( By the way its not that low to be honest He only needs to get it past an ITV on the day Thanks Sinky

The Civic really doesn't look that low - what are the regs on car height in Spain, then? Seems a bizarre rule. What happens if someone needs an ITV on their VX220 or Elise? Wheels with a higher offset to tuck them into the arches, combined with larger profile tyres should help, although 5.5cm is a lot. Take it somewhere else for a test? On a different note, what's the make/spec of the alloys he's got fitted at the moment? I'd like something similar but in 16" flavour for our MR2 Roadster.v

Its not that low but there is a lip around the inspection pit at the Itv centre that makes it look lower I don't know if all the bays are the same but the center has 10+ bays and does 100´s of Itvs everyday They had a spirit level across the roof and a tape measure to the height of the spirit level. In the book 550mm too low? It will be going to another ITV center for the retest tho. We did appeal as it passed no probs last year but they would not change. My BM failed an hour before his . Angel eyes not stock and drivers door not working properly. Fair enough with the door but an advisory would have been better. Angel eyes? You can add light but its not stock so fail Could be a pick on the foreigners thing. BBS wheels mate thats all he knows. Look good on the civic I must admit Thanks for your advice .

Certainly doesn't look very low. Is it worth going elsewhere?

just over 2 inches is a lot of suspension height to gain.

Yeah your dead right. I think we are going to try the wheels and tyres combo. Sub and spare wheel out. Maybe get a wee bit? Shurly they must have some leeway

Over 2" too low sounds wrong, did they think it was a jazz or something? How about towing spring assisters, those big rubber lumps that fit between the coils?

Hi Chris. Yeah thought about that but do these lift or just firm up?

Something doesn't sound right, 2 inches would make that car way higher than standard are you sure its not MM? The Rubber spring assistors come in various sizes so measure between the springs to work out what size you need, to fit the jack the car up and place between the coils.
As for the angel eyes they are not EU approved which is why they would fail.

We have ITV/MOT centers here. Up t0 50 cars an hour get tested. It takes 10-15 mins each car.Open 07.00 till 22.00
Very very busy from 07.00
It really just depends on the day and how the examiner feels.

I can't find anything which relates to vehicle height or non-standard lighting in the ITV test.
I think you found an Anglophobe testing station.
